Putting Austin in to start…

Putting Austin in to start is genius. Means Hunter won’t get in early foul trouble!

Sorry all schools do not…

Sorry all schools do not replace a ton of starters every year. And when they do replace a ton of players, unless you are Alabama, Clemson or Ohio st, there will be adjustments.

We had to replace almost our entire O line and then lost two (three for Rutgers) of the replacements for this year to injury.

I do agree there seems to be problems with our coaches being out schemed.  But this team brings almost everyone back next year (see, don’t have to replace a ton of players). I say with no one available to come in and save the program we give Harbaugh another year to see if he can right the ship.

Yes this!  I'll even throw in Brian Kelley. How good would Kelly be doing if they were in the Big Ten East. His signature win is a OT win against Lawrenceless Clemson.

Beatable defense if Gattis…

Beatable defense if Gattis is on his game.  The  lack of personnel should really weaken their (Wisconsin) depth on both sides of the ball.  If Harbaugh has not lost the team and play callers wake up, we win.  Not as down on CB, definitely saw some improvement last week.  They were in the area code, just need to make a play.  Go Blue!

Looks like hope for the future.  Can’t fathom the play calling after such a dynamic game against Minnesota. Indiana is a good team and OL missing two starting makes me even more impressed by Miltons play. I just can’t believe that a coach as successful as Harbaugh just got bad this quick.  I think he will turn it around.

I am just as disappointed as…

I am just as disappointed as anyone else but I take the authors view of optimism. I still think Jim Harbaugh is the right coach.  As said, it’s a weird year, the offensive line is new, the QB is new along with many other skill players. They have shown some early potential that this offense can become elite once they figure it out. Can’t say much about D except the CB’s aren’t as bad as everyone thinks. Bad yes but Indiana game was an improvement. They were there on all the TD’s but just had bad timing. I think we will bounce back next season in a big way.  Harbaugh is always willing to change to get a competitive edge and I think he will find it. He is passionate and committed to Michigan. I don’t think he turned into a bad coach overnight.

I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking the same thing.
Feel bad for the IU receiver Feel bad for the IU receiver on the two point conversion. He was the one who was yelling, "no more being close!" on the sideline after his punt return TD.
Just curious why you name Just curious why you name Morris a co starter, and not give him a shot as Rudock was not very effective. If you were going to keep him in all fame why not make him an outright starter! Also did anyone else notice how many time Poggi whiffed on his blocks? Major whiff on that throwback screen and I counted at least three others on running plays.
Hodor. I mean Harbaugh! Hodor. I mean Harbaugh!
Just wanted to thank you for Just wanted to thank you for the Smith's reference in the title. Made my day combining my favorite band with my favorite school. Didn't think it could be done
Miles

I think I understand what Brian's hestiancy towards Miles is.  He's at the end of his career and just going through the motions.

The part about being in a hotbed of talent makes sense for recruiting purposes, but he has shown an ability to turn that talent into wins.  Hoke had great recruiting class and turned that into... well, feel free to use whatever term you like.

I think that Miles coming to Michigan is a dream for him and would invigorate him.  Plus, WHEN he is successful, he will be able to set up a transition when he decides to retire. A transition while your successful is easier to navigate than the last two we've had.

Came from Boston with my 11 Came from Boston with my 11 and 8 year olds for their first game, and what an experience for all of us. I kept thinking, "what great energy from the crowd, and this is a team that is 2-4!" Go Blue! My boys loved the Norfleet dance parties!
Afraid

The comment about Minnesota being solid up front and Amaefula being in the backfield all day makes me nervous regardless who plays QB.

a question

How much is that lack of production from blue chippers due to not coaching up all that potential?

Coaching

Not concerning the defense, but this is what I've seen the past couple of years.

Recruiting top talent - check

Players work hard and are good kids - check.

So what is the missing piece?  Looks pretty obvious

Hey! Michigan is still Hey! Michigan is still relevant. Peter King mentioned the Utah loss in his column. Seems like all of college football is waiting for Michigan to come back and we will, but the wait is killing me! I'm taking my kids to the PSU game, and hope witnessing that game doesn't kill their enthusiasm for UM. I'm not just talking about the football, but also the atmosphere of a full Michigan stadium.
2007 To end on a happy note, despite those first two games in 2007, Michigan responded well by beating Tebow/Harvin led Florida team.
Thanks for making me relive all those heartbreakers! The Miami game hurt the most. I broke the tv in my college dorm when I threw my football at it as miami's kick sailed through the uprights. The rocket Ismail game was a close second. The tv survived that one though. The 92 rose bowl v. Washington who had Steve Entman was the first time I remember Michigan being totally dominated in.
Perhaps we could peer Perhaps we could peer pressure them into it!
Dominated! I disagree, we were dominated. Those four ND drives you cited were when ND was up 28-0. They were just being conservative. Us moving the ball in the second half is also ND being conservative. Plus at halftime we were down 21-0 and never turned the ball over . I don't think the O-line play was that bad, but the D line and whole D for that matter were abysmal! CB's couldn't jam, no pressure, poor tackling.
