Great read with much humor.   But this oddly specific line has me yearning for the back story: “Like when your friend owns a hydraulic press but refuses to squish anything spectacular with it. ”

Or throwing out of the same…

Or throwing out of the same key hole.

79-83 here:  agree with all this, but would Drake’s Sandwhich shop, Pan Tree on Liberty, Wolverine Den on South U, Dooley’s and more…

Lets talk a few specifics

Hunter Dickinson -  He is regressing, he is out of shape - he is less athletic every year, and his straight legged shuffle down the court is all he can muster.  By the end of the game, his legs give out and all his shots come up short.  Not sure this can be blamed on trainers team, I think he has already passed his physical peak.   He can defend smaller more athletic bigs. Watching Reed run up and down the court and crash the boards is what Hunter used to do, but now just waddles down the court.   Hunter straight up lacks the ability to run.   He was so good in years past because the point guards were good enough to drive and dish to Hunter, or work the pick and roll much better.   Llewellyn couldn’t drive to the basket to save his life, and sucked from 3, so Hunter had to learn to demand the ball a little more on the post with this team, but now teams just double him because there are not the other weapons for him to pass it to.

Dug McDaniel - at least has some speed and can drive the basket some, but because of his height (or lack thereof), he can’t finish, so the open dish to Hunter is not there.   He has a much better shot that Llewellyn, but can’t find space to get it off very often, and stature being an issue.   He is quick to the loose rebounds and I think he is an upgrade, and will probably only get better from here.  A lot of hustle and heart, I like him!

Kobe Bufkin - decent defender, but he can’t get to the basket and every time he drives the baseline it’s a turnover or missed shot.   He takes a lot of bad shots, doesn’t have a feel for the game and gets lost a lot.  Still he has improved from last year and is young, but there are a lot of cringe worthy moments with him on the floor.

Jett Howard - He has all the tools, and will be great someday soon.  For now, he lacks hustle and can’t cover very well.   very up and down player, but he is a freshman.   He does ooze talent and he’ll get it figured out.  Hopefully the ankle injury doesn’t set him back

Terence Williams II - what an enigma!   He shows the flashes, but they only come out about every 4th game.  The rest of the time, he wallows - he lost his jumper and hasn’t been able to find it.

Coach Howard - He is the right person for the job, but he needs someone to help with with game and clock management, and also someone to teach shooting, like Beilein could do.

That’s all I got - my fingers are out of shape and cramping….

Beilein definitely taught shooting, he even “invented” this ball while at Michigan to teach ball rotation https://kbacoach.com/product/beilein-basketball/

well I gotta say, as much as ohowihateohiostate, i kinda put that aside on the pro level.  For example, Chris Speilman - love that guy as a Lion and as a human.

Dickinson had a decent line…

Dickinson had a decent line against PSU, but to me it looked like he had tired legs.  All of his misses out of the paint came up short and he had a lot of trouble even under the basket elevating enough to finish the shot without missing or getting blocked.

As for Moussa, I think his slight frame is not holding up to the rough and tumble big ten big men.  So probably a bit beat up, and also he’s been taking the ball way too far back over his head when shooting a jumper here lately.    I’ve never seen a good outside shooter with that kind of delivery.

If you see Dickinson’s legs under him, and Moussa taking some of that hitch out of his shooting motion early on tonight, then Blue might have a shot at a W.

I admit it, don’t think I’ve ever done more than skim a game recap, but today, I read and relished every word.  Well done Alex, you perfectly captured the game in words, and I relived the game through your writing.

What happened to Mike Smith…

What happened to Mike Smith down the stretch?   He struggled guarding and shooting against LSUs taller guards, but OMG, he was a turnover machine in the last few minutes and finally got pulled after the last traveling turnover.  Not a clutch guy under late game pressure lately.  Franz was the opposite, horrible most of the game, but boy did he show when it mattered.

Really?  Am I not…

Really?  Am I not understanding something?  With vertical installation, you only get vertical seams, with horizontal, you get both vertical and horizontal seams - more taping, mudding and sanding....Vertical all the way

Camera anglesHow is it that Camera angles
How is it that there were not more camera angles of this play looking straight down the line to gain? There was a time stop before the play, and they even had the "sky cam" for this game so getting cameras in position should not have been a problem. For this being The Game with 2 vs 3 you'd think there would be more camera angles to view. I see more angles routinely in NFL games, and even in most B1G games. I noticed much better camera work for the Wisc v Minn game on the Big Ten Network yesterday.

The RT graded out very well too!
