How would a theoretical ‘super conference’ affect the P5 cast-offs and mid-major conferences? How would the fan experience evolve for season-ticket holders and television audiences among the premier programs?
I’m concerned about the directional Us losing $3-8MM annual payouts earned from non-conference games. I don’t know if there is enough alumni interest to continue TV contracts.
Furthermore, could student-athletes play a full gauntlet of Texas/Alabama/George 11-12 weeks in a row? I imagine there would be a lot of parity.
Our schedule just became way more interesting. The novelty of playing these new programs drives way more interest versus any existing B1G West school, Rutger and Maryland.
I’d much rather see a 10-11 game conference schedule versus the recent lackluster non-conference schedules.
The new 12-team playoff format takes so much pressure off of having a perfect season. B1G teams will be better prepared to compete for a national championship with the upgrade in conference competition.
Apple TV or Prime Video could step in to broadcast ND games. $75MM is a relatively low investment considering what Prime paid for TNF ($1BB per year-$58MM per game).
Advertisers LOVE the split screen as their message can be seen among those watching recordings. Food advertisers with delivery services could drive in-game ordering from that same placement. it’s actually very valuable space so hopefully we’ll see more of this when the next contract begins.

As Michigan possesses among the largest alumni and fan bases, I view all of these rumors as click bait.
Coach Harbaugh has been truthful since he arrived. He already stated he would enthusiastically be the coach at M in 2023. Let’s all take a deep breath and go by that last statement.
If he does leave, the foundation is set for a long time. It would be a vastly different situation than what occurred during the Troubles.
I’ve often thought teams were too penalized for losing one or two games in the regular season.
The new 12-team format should increase the likelihood of better non-conference matchups. I think we all agree our 2022 and 2023 non-conference games are pathetic. Let’s start scheduling home and homes with SEC and ACC because the upside is far greater with an expanded playoff.

Now that order has been restored that Ohio pipeline will continue the momentum our way.

Expanding on this great idea, I’d swap the non-conference schedule with three cross-over games for 12 scheduled matchups.
Every cross divisional team would face each other once every three years.
