What rows are the best to sit in in the Big House?

Submitted by Matthew on

I know this question has been asked probably numerous times, but if money is no object (within reason...I'm not dropping $5,000 on a ticket), which row or set of rows is the best to sit in?  I've been twice before but I feel you guys who go to the stadium each week will have a better idea.  I see tickets available in rows in the 40s or in the 70s.  Is 70 to far up?  Is it like the being in the upper decks at indoor arenas?

Thanks for nay help you guys can provide.  GO BLUE!

I like row A. I know you don't see as much but your so damn close. If not that then I like being in one of the suites.

the student section. Preferably non-endzone but I'd take enzone student section over 50 yard line in front of gray hairs any day. Only acceptable time to sit down is up to 20 minutes before game time and then halftime. The phrase "down in front" does not exist. Frenzied jubilation after every great play.

Row 94, Section 18 (near the SW corner). I sit just under the suite structure. I don't get rained on, and the sun (at least for 3:30 starts) doesn't affect me at all. When the game is over, I can zip out of there in no time due to my proximity to the upper concourse (which also means concessions and bathrooms are just steps away). I have an outstanding view of the entire field.

Unless they reconfigure something and I get bumped out of these seats at some point (which is actually how I ended up with them), I will have them until the day I die.

Our season tickets are right next to the tunnel in Sec 2, almost directly across from the press box. We are fortunate enough to have aisle seats - almost important as height of seats- in such cramped quarters. We're are Row 38 and I really can't imagine a better seat in the house. The feeling is you are watching the game from just above field level, but they are damn expensive.

One of the wisest things my sister did was marry a man that said yes to Benny and became part of Bump's team in the late 50s. However, for the average student, these tickets are cost prohibitive and during one very bad financial year I had to sell my two for when the franchise fee was enacted. Tickets went from face value - 54$ I believe to over 1300 for 7 home games. It's a ridiculous pricef -185.00 per seat; sounds like what one should pay to watch the Super Bowl. I was a member of the rivals site then and I announced that I would be selling two tickets, Sec 2, Row 38, aisle seats.  I left my email and within five minutes my inbox was filling up. I hate to say this, but it took a man from OH to say the magic words.Even though I announced that tickets would go for face value plus the franchis fee and virtually spelled it out for them, almost all the emails contained words like, "How much do you want for them? How much are they going for etc." About the fourth to fifth email, I opened an email from a M fan from OH who said, "I'll take them." Bingo. They were gone.  After it was established that he was the lucky winner, he asked, "Now is this a one year deal or will you want the tickets back?" Of course, possessing a minimum of moral fiber, I answered that the only way he would lose the tickets is if I wanted them back permanently and because he was willing to bail me out of a jam I wouldn't do this to him. I told him that because M's schedule usually rotates between good home games one year to poor the next, we could establish a "first pick" on a rotating basis. It's worked out well. But back to the question. Row 40 is good. 70  probably would not be that bad and is, of course, closer to the exits - the aisles do get crowded during quarter and half-time breaks. It's a party anyway, so I think any seat you can get, provided price is right, would be ok, but seats from about 28 to 42 are the ones I would call Primo.

If you are tall like me (6'4") you will appreicate row 56 directly behind the handycap accessible spots. There's nobody in front of you therefore you have all the room in the world to stretch out. I purposely looked up row 56 for the Air Force game and found some. It was a beautiful thing once again....

I'm a bit biased because these are where our season tickets have been for years, but the 89th (or top) row is the best. Here's why:

(1) Great, full view of the field--never miss a play

(2) Built-in seat back if you'd like to lean back

(3) No one behind you (to yell in your ear, knee you in the back, spill on you, or get upset when you stand)

(4) A convenient little shelf directly behind your seat to store any extra clothing, food, drinks, etc.

As others have said, any row above about mid-way is great for field prespective, but the top-row seats are the absolute best in my opinion.

I had my grandfather's seats in sec. 2 row 81 seats 21-24. I would love to have them back, and it is a life goal to do so. You can see the field so well, it appeared like you knew exactly if the ball carrier got to the 1st down or was stopped short.

Currently I sit in sec. 36 row 66 (end zone, near students) and I cannot see the yardage as clearly across the field. I must look at the video to see what yard he is tackled.

Right behind the band in the student section. True you're kind of cornered in but its an awesome atmoshpere with the cheers and hearing The Victors right behind you. My prefered row in that section would have to be row 25 or 30.

Thank you for all the responses!

Another question:  I am kind of leaning towards section 23 or Section 1 just to be at the 50 yard line.  Will I be surrounded by old people yelling at me to sit down?  If so, what section should I sit in.  As you can probably tell, I am trying to get the best tickets in the house.  I haven't been to a game since '08 (Toledo...Christ!) and I probably wont be back for a couple years so I want this trip to be close to perfect.

I'm curious about this as well, as I'll be attending my first game this Saturday and will be sitting in Section 25 Row 49, it's a little closer to the endzone, but also closer to the band. Hoping these are good seats and I'll enjoy the experience!
