Wearing Mgear in Ohio

Submitted by TorontoBlue on

I'm playing in a 2-day golf tournament at Firestone CC in Akron next month.  My lucky golf tournament outfit is the Loudmouth Maize & Blue argyle pants/shorts that you can buy at MDen along with a Michigan shirt.  I've won low gross or low net several times in this ensemble.  But I'm wondering if it will be considered a bit too "in your face"/douchey to wear it down there.  I'm secure & self confident enough to handle anything the wild untamed masses below the border dish out, but don't want to come across as a jerk or an asshole.

Thoughts?

Of course, I am wearing MSU gear, but I am in downtown Columbus every weekend. I will get someone saying something about 1 or 2 times per year. I often get positive comments from other Spartans. There are many people at work that wear Michigan gear daily. I would not worry about it at all.

What would you think of a buckeye wearing the same "Lucky" outfit in scarlet and grey. If you would just look away without automatically putting a douche sign over his head in your imagination, then yeah what the hell wear it. If the same outfit in scarlet and grey would make you wanna yell asshole then just put on a M baseball cap, and call it a day.

what anybody thinks about what I am wearing. I always golf with my michigan shirts or hats or both all year round everywhere I go. If I had a "Lucky" outfit I would not hesitate to wear it at a tournament. They are played all over the country so I would look like a little out of place in East Lansing or Ohio who cares, go blue!

I'd have to imagine that it's probably a little different in East Lansing since there is so much more cross pollination - when I was in high school/college in Ann Arbor there was always a sizeable enough minority of people who'd wear MSU sweatshirts since they were going there or had family there and no one really gave a care.  Heck, 50% of my friends my frosh year at U-M were from East Lansing or Okemos HS so I'm sure it goes both ways.

I wore my m jersey to fireworks in downtown Columbus a few 4th of july's ago (my wife is from there). I tried to keep track of how many times people yelled "f u" at me and lost track after 30.
