TomVH: Who is planning to enroll early?

Submitted by CincyBlue on
Tom, Great job as always! With 2008 in our rear view mirror. I was wondering what your best guess is for the verbally committed and not committed (but on Michigan's radar) that could enroll at Michigan in January? Thank you sir!

Brian has an "(EE)" next to guys names who have expressed interest in enrolling early. Obviously these aren't set in stone, but it's a decent starting point. I'm sure Tom has much more info, but thought I'd point you there too. If the board is correct though, there will be a pretty large influx. At least players clearly are enthusiastic about Rich Rodriguez's program, even if the wins weren't there this year.

Mike Jones Brandin Hawthorne Vincent Smith Vladimir Emilien Shavodrick Beaver Tate Forcier Will Campbell* and I think there is one more target/recruit (LaLota?) that plans to enroll early wherever he lands. also, I think Hawthorne has recently confirmed that he and Smith have everything set to start in January. Forcier has some questions related to his homeschooling to resolve, Beaver has his shoulder injury and I don't know about VE's plans since he is new to the committed list.

These are all the ones I know about for now, including LaLota. He is also going up early, and very excited. I just talked to Tate yesterday, and he's on track to graduate early, and said he'll be there December 29th. Beaver will be there early as well.

in an earlier post that the Big Ten allows you to oversign by three? but even so, I think as long as you got the scholarships available and you're under 25 for the class it doesn't matter how many early enrollers you have. They'll all apply to the class of 09 count.

There isn't a limit as to how many can come early and enroll, your whole class can do that if they want, but you can only count 3 (I think) toward the last class, and the rest have to count for the current recruiting class.

within the past few years. I don't remember the player's name (I think he went to LSU), but obviously the enrollment paperwork had to be completed and filed with the university ahead of the second semester (and the All-American game). So the various recruiting boards were able to scoop the decision based on the enrollment paperwork about 7-10 days before the AA game.
