Is there an MGOBLOGlossary?
I did a quick search using the search tool, and it resulted in a few posts with definitions of random terms, but I haven't been able to locate an official glossary for the terms often used on this site. Any old-timer, or newbie with more intuitive skills, have any suggestions? If there isn't one, what is the origin of tO$U? Just wondering. I don't like giving that school more than a second's thought, and lately this one has been bugging me.

Not sure how to take your reply. Clearly tO$U refers to Ohio State, I get that part, but I wasn't sure why it was small "t" and "$". Just looking for the origin.

My fault. I really did think you were joking because tO$U has been around for quite some time. Anyway, the other poster (GNM) is correct. BTW, there is a parallel here; buckeye posters often refer to M as tSUN or t$un (for the/that state up north).

My sarcasm/troll meter is always set to full blast. There is a lot less sarcasm here than other boards I peruse (which says something about my choice of literature). In my defense, I did admit fault before you ironically expressed your disdain for my rudeness by calling me an asshole.

I've seen it a lot, so that's what sparked the question of origin. The tSUN tidbit is funny. Glad to see the rivalry has entered the random abbreviation of everything, text message happy, world. Who says the big 10 is stuck in the 20th century.

If you type the letters in the google browser it will usually bring up they stand for. For a more in depth description go to the Urban Dictionary on the web. Lots of help for those abbrev. and terms you are not familiar with.

tO$U is an abbreviation for The Ohio State University. The dollar sign replacing the S is an allusion to the tendency of Ohio State's athletes to accept monetary compensation for their services.

While we are on the subject of it (and yes I am serious) is LOL lots of love or luck? I know that OMG is Oh my gosh and BTW is By the way but what is IMO. I really don't keep up with technology and do not even have a txt package with my cell phone, (if I were not self employed I probably would not even have a cell phone) so I do not know what all of these abbreviations mean. Is there a magical website that I can go to so that I can get caught up with this new language. Thnx (did I at least get that one right?)

I must admit that I had to search "tacopants" the other day. The search engine led me to the FAQ addy that was previouisly posted.
This is a great place, and there are a few "inside jokes" that newbies haven't seen yet. I am still fairly new, and I am sure I will have to look up one or two abbreviations sometime.
As for tOSU, I haven't seen it mentioned that OSU people seem to get perturbed if you don't put the "the" or "t" in front of OSU when talking or writing about it.
Nor have I seen it mentioned that the "$" is a natural substitution for schools like O$U and U$C who have been documented as paying players gross and obscene amounts of money but have not been forced to vacate any of their victories like UM was.
Personally, I don't put the "t" in front of OSU. If they don't like it, BFD. Let 'em whine about it. They don't belong on UM forums, anyway.

First: the "The" in front of that abhorred name is something concocted by we fair and grand Michigan folk, as a mockery. Their adaptation of it is, in a way, their embracing of an insult to themselves. It delights me to no end

So many athletes drive nice cars from friendly boosters at Michigan. This is among other things. The players make millions for their schools, let's not pretend we actually care outside of the jealousy that we got busted in bball and other schools didn't get busted in football.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but the name of the school is "The Ohio State University" and has been since it was founded. It has less to do with Michigan than it does late 19th century archaic naming conventions.

Actually, The Ohio State University started life as Ohio Agriculture and Mechanical College. It was changed to tOSU seven years later.
