Snowflake Thread: Coaching

Submitted by Black Socks on

Up 7 to uber conservative offense - to delay of game - to punt - to horrendous pooch - to allowing three consecutive bombs.  I am a sunshine blower but that is the worst game management I've ever seen.

Fire Funk this week.  Fire Borges at the end of the season if it doesn't improve.  Then in a year, probably fire Hoke.

How about doing some things to help your players a la PSU's NASCAR?  Seems like the coaches attitude is that it is somehow not manly to do anything other than try to beat your oppoenent straight up after tipping what you're going to do.

I understand that Borges and Hoke want to be a power running team, but we simply don't have the O-line to do that.  It starts with firing Funk.  There is absolutely no reason a competent offensive line coach can't take 2 and 3 star recruits at a Big Ten school of Michigan's calibur out and push around the likes of Akron, UConn, and depleted PSU.

For the rest of the year, we should really abandon the power run game and run more veers, zone read, etc. you know -- the stuff that worked really well yesterday but for reasons unbeknownst to me we completely abandoned.

That said, the people clamoring for Hoke to be fired are laughable.  He's in his 2nd recruiting class (currently sophomores) and do we really want to remain in flux AGAIN, as we have been since 2007?  Transition results have not been good.  Hoke gets at least 2 more years, minimum.

I think Borges is just using his first three years at Michigan to establish foolish tendencies (like repeatedly calling plays that are not working) and show a propensity to tip hand.

Beginning next year he will have Fitz, Devin, and Finchess leap from the rabbit taking the Big Ten completely by surprise.
