S.I.A. Asked: What are UM's sections at the FROZEN Four

Submitted by Moonlight Graham on

All caps on FROZEN because I need to clarify. Man that feels good.

I'll be in the St. Paul area for college visits over spring break and my son has an overnight recruiting stay Thursday night so I'll be going to the game solo (hey, need something to do). Does anyone know what section Michigan is in, or do they do that sort of partitioning for the Frozen Four? I figure since I'm a single, it will be nice to sit among other fans. Hopefully this will be helpful to others who are looking for this information as well.

There is a section or two and I'm not sure where it is. But most of the people who attend are general fans, so unless you inadvertently park in the Notre Dame section you'll have scattered fans of various teams, including Michigan, sprinkled around. The X is a fabulous arena, BTW.

As #1 remaining seed, Notre Dame gets the Minnesota Wild locker room, which means they get the Minnesota Wild bench which would put their fans in sections 119/120/222.

For years, that would put Michigan's fans diagonal from there--sections 106/107/206/207.  But they have been doing funny things lately in order to get filled-up sections on camera.  This might mean that Michigan's section is in the corner with the Michigan bench:  113/114/216.

I think what happens is that the M ticket allocation is for 106/107/206/207 for semifinal #1, but they will move the Michigan fans to 113/114/216 for semifinal #2 (the Michigan game) to get the best look for TV.  But listen to Stephen--anywhere is fine.  Sit in section 123 over the zamboni entrance and heckle Cale Morris (the ND goaltender) in the first & third periods.  There will be M fans scattered througout the arena.

For the 600-person team allotments, they have had them switch sides between games, yes.  The other 15,000 people in the arena will stay where they are, of course.

ESPN doesn't want empty sections on camera, so they have put the participating teams' sections behind the benches.  This means switching sides between semis for the people in those team sections.

Warning:  I don't know that they are doing that this year.  They did it last year, I think, and the year before they actually did have separate tickets for the 2 semifinals.  But don't be surprised if that's what they do with the team sections again.

I'm not necessarily sure that ND would end up in the Wild locker room. They could, but it may depend on how many locker rooms the X has. If they have more than 5, then they may not use the Wild locker room, because even without it, they'd have enough for 4 teams + refs. Some arenas will use the primary tenant's locker room for other events, some won't.

Well I'm sitting solo in Sec. 206 (top row no less), but to be honest there isn't a bad seat at Xcel, the upper bowl is really steep so it gives an interesting view.
