I still cannot vote. I don't see, and have not seen (since the switch) any buttons/icons/clickable areas which would allow me to vote, either up or down.

Not sure about the get rich aspect, but it would be a way to get names, phone numbers and maybe addresses of high school girls.

Grew up in Ann Arbor, went to school in Syracuse. Didn't bother changing my online identities when I moved to Orlando.

07/02/2018 - 7:10pm Orlando, FL

Orlando, FL

  • Decent weather October-April
  • Lots of Michigan transplants
  • Detroit Tigers Spring Training and AA club nearby
  • We have a hockey team (ish)
  • If you like theme parks, there's quite a few of them
  • Lots of food/drink options
  • Generally friendly people
  • No state income tax
  • Good arts/culture options

  • Weather is pretty unbearable May-September
  • Traffic is awful. Unless you like toll roads. And even then, it's still pretty bad.
  • People are dumb enough to actually spend money to go see the Orlando Magic
  • Weird obsession with soccer
  • Lots of cookie-cutter neighborhoods with no real character. Pretty much everywhere is governed by a HOA
  • Cockroaches that fly
  • Gators - the ones with a football team
  • Gators - the ones with sharp teeth
  • Schools in some areas are pretty bad.

Where on the priority list is "not able to up/down vote" ?

Now if only we could get rid of the stupid B1G logo. Or at least make it look visually appealing like literally everything else in this picture.

06/15/2018 - 6:17pm I live in Orlando, which…

I live in Orlando, which gets a good amount of rain, and thunderstorms. When we had DirecTV, we would frequently have service interruptions - ranging from about 5 seconds to hours at a time. Light rain was usually fine, but heavier rain would usually cause degradation.

We moved, got cable from Spectrum (BrightHouse) for a while, and then AT&T started offering UVerse in our area, and we switched. The AT&T installer asked why we were going with UVerse TV rather than DirecTV (also owned by AT&T), and we said the weather and service interruptions.

He said that a lot of the "signal interruption in the rain" issue could have been caused by the installer. Apparently most of the contracted installers will setup the dish and calibrate it so that it meets whatever their "minimum" standard is (about 17 "units", but I don't remember what unit they measured in), but that he (and other installers employed directly by AT&T, and thus not paid by the job) usually did a better job of calibrating, and that his own system at home got about 28 units of signal strength, and he almost never had issues due to the rain.

TL;DR - I had a bad experience with DirecTV and weather, but it could've just been a bad install.

2. On the old site, when you clicked on the link for the "jump" in an article, it would take you to an anchor within the document, so when the article loaded, you were already at the jump. Now it's taking you to the top of the article, so you have to scroll past the part you already read.

And get rid of Notre Dame. If they think the Big Ten isn't good enough for them in football, they should be banned from joining it in other sports.

The Magic are owned by the DeVos family. They know a lot about selling MLM crap, but not a lot about running a sports team. Remember, they hired Stan Van Gundy before he went to Detroit. Not exactly a great track record.

05/23/2018 - 6:17pm I'm pretty sure it was Fox

I'm pretty sure it was Fox Sports that had the "___ would be better if it were hockey" commercials. Those were pretty good. I remember bowling, golf, and billiards, there may have been others.

I also liked the MasterCard commercial with the guy who is the Stanley Cup escort ... "White gloves $4, silver polish $$, spending every minute with the Stanley cup .. priceless"

Lastly, not a big fan of Lou Holtz, but his Discover card commercial was pretty amusing.

Least favorite? Ambulance chasing lawyers. Buick, Dr Pepper

04/03/2018 - 2:02pm I'm excited for the Frozen

I'm excited for the Frozen Four, I'm sure we'll see some good exciting hockey, but it's a tough road. We split the season series with Notre Dame 2-2, and 3 of the 4 were one goal games. Our team seems to be at the top of our game right now, bit in a single elimination tournament, anything can happen. Go Blue!

03/29/2018 - 10:08pm I'm not necessarily sure that

I'm not necessarily sure that ND would end up in the Wild locker room. They could, but it may depend on how many locker rooms the X has. If they have more than 5, then they may not use the Wild locker room, because even without it, they'd have enough for 4 teams + refs. Some arenas will use the primary tenant's locker room for other events, some won't.

03/29/2018 - 5:07pm ESPN grill at the wide world

ESPN grill at the wide world complex is only open during events at the complex, and there aren't really any evening events. Unless you want to go watch Disney employee rec league softball (not recommended)

ESPN Zone at the boardwalk is the best sports atmosphere. Some of the bars at Disney springs will probably have the games on.
The local UM alumni club location is Friendly Confines, on Edgewood in Orlando, but not really close to Disney.

The OT goal went 5 hole, and Lavigne's stick wasn't down. It also looked like he may have slid a little too far to the right, so wasn't at a great angle. As you mentioned, it was an OMR shot from the slot, so not totally on him, but it looked like had he played it a bit differently, it wasn't going in.

03/10/2018 - 5:40pm Why is the game at Nationwide

Why is the game at Nationwide rather than at the Schott? OSU can't fill the Schott for a hockey game, how can they fill an NHL arena?

03/02/2018 - 8:37pm How about if they start

How about if they start actually calling Kickoff Offsides? You know, that rule that's already on the books that says that nobody can cross the yard line that the ball is being kicked from until after the ball is kicked?

The 40 second play clock after a kickoff won't do anything, because there'll still be a media timeout after the change of possession ... so still 3 minutes, plus the 40 second play clock.

I'll disagree with the majority. I liked the first Tide ad, but after that, it just got old.

I also wasn't a fan of the Doritos/Mountain Dew ad. If you're going to use Morgan Freeman in a commercial and o only have 2 or 3 words in his own voice, you're doing it wrong.

01/05/2018 - 4:38pm The official Michigan

The official Michigan football Facebook account just posted that he's been hired as part of the defensive staff, but didn't say which position group he will b be working with

01/05/2018 - 4:30pm I see a lot of folks

I see a lot of folks commenting that he's not a great OC hire. Has it been confirmed anywhere that he will be our OC? Just because that was his last position doesn't mean that he'll be doing the same thing. We are allowed a 10th assistant this season, so this could be filling that spot and there still could be a new, more exciting hire for the coordinator position. There could still be a large-scale shakeup of titles among the offensive staff.

12/08/2017 - 2:03pm Matt Mann

Personally, when I hear the name Matt Mann, I tend to think of the pool that used to be where Cliff Keen arena now stands.

12/05/2017 - 6:51pm What about using something

What about using something like College Hockey's Pairwise Ranking system - Every team is compared to every other team in a matrix, using 3 factors: RPI ranking, head-to-head, and record against common opponents. It would need to be tweaked somewhat - with limited out of conference games, head-to-head and common opponent records would be 0-0 in a lot of cases.

USCHO has a great article explaining exactly how it's calculated here:

I'm also in favor of expanding the playoff to 8 teams, and getting rid of conference championship games, Jim Delaney, and the SEC.

11/24/2017 - 11:50pm I was at the Arkansas-Mizzou

I was at the Arkansas-Mizzou game today (wife is a UA alum, family still in the area). Nobody is very surprised by the firing, although it was a bit of a surprise that he wasn't even allowed to give his post game presser. My BIL says that a lot of folks think Gus Malzahn is the natural choice, he has ties to the state, and it would be a homecoming for him. I don't think he'll leave a top ten program at Auburn to take over at Arkansas, but maybe he wants a lower pressure job?

Whoever the next coach is, they've got a lot of rebuilding to do.
