Season ticket question

Submitted by turfboy on
I just bought 2010 fb season tix, section 40, row 85 - 4 together for face. The gentleman has been a season ticketholder for 43 years. He said I can have them for as long as I wish, and he's paying the licensing fee every year. I'm a bit excited as I gave up my season tickets in 1999 to start my family, etc. What do you folks think of these seats? (Fully understanding they are all pretty good) I have never sat up in that corner section before. Also got an invite to go with our high schools head fb coach to the first week of spring practice - smuggling me in as an "assistant".(actually I do help some times, but after being a head coach for 17 years, I was just burned out) Pretty excited to see how things work in his practices first hand. Any of you been to a spring practice? Get to watch Barwis first hand to when they lift - I hope he doesn't eat me.

I'm in section 40 row 40 and I love them. Obviously you're going to be pretty much at the top - but there aren't really any bad seats in Michigan stadium. The one thing I love about the section is that there are 2 exit gates - so people leave much faster and you can get to the food/bathrooms much faster than a lot of the other sections.

You are near the students, near the band, etc. VERY bright sun in your face in that section. (You will be looking a little south, and west, and you are up high enough not to be in any shadows.) You are not far from the last upper-portal on that east-side, and with the new east pavilion, you'll have easy entry and exit. All in all, very good.

...because that corner of the stadium gets the most sun. My folks are up high in 43 and like it. And you should hear the band real well there, unlike my seats in section 18.

Long story involving out of town guests... Anyway, I was astonished at how bad the band acoustics were up there! I've had season tickets in Sections 28, 31, 37 and 1 over the years. And I have gone to many games in sections 44, 2, 8 and 13 at various times. So I have kind of seen it all. Sec. 18 almost feels like an away game. Even more than sitting down low in 44, with the opposing teams' player-coach-family ticket holders. The view in 18, like anywhere, is fine. Acoustics are really weird.

I'm in second 17 pretty high up (row 69) and I don't think the vision will be a problem. However, what is nice about the SW corner is late games early in the season, we get shade mid 2nd quarter. Hopefully you don't burn eaasily.

Glad to hear. I have never sat up that high. Had to chuckle on the sun comments - I'm a tall ugly redhead, should be beat red by the time November swings around. As far as acoustics, I had a weird experience during this years OSU game. Sat on home side 45 yard line, row 32. Besides listening to everyone bitch about standing, I literally could not hear the band or students from that angle, which stunk. Its an added plus to hear our band and see the students antics - makes for a great day. The temptation "you suck" thing is a riot. First time my 10 and 7 year olds heard that they looked at me like they were in trouble...quite a laugh.

I don't want to be the voice of pessimism but...I will. First off, let me say that I think you'll like the tickets quite well, sun comments notwithstanding. My tickets for the last several years have been Section 19 Row 76 (almost exactly opposite your seats) and I LOVE the perspective on the field. However, one downside to your arrangement is that the tickets are not transferable. You're not paying the seat license now, but say you keep them for 10 years and your friend decides he's done. Then you have no seats and no priority points. Hopefully by then the team is coming off its fifth consecutive national championship. That will mean tickets are more difficult to come by. It will likely take time on a waitlist, and a big donation, to get tix. From talking to the ticket office this last week, it sounds like due to the ongoing seat and aisle widening project, they're being pretty stingy with new ticket adds anywhere in the bowl. Still, you might want to consider getting on the waitlist for your own tickets. I tend to think about going to games for the next fifty years, though, so that clouds my thinking a bit. YMMV.

I'm on the wait list, but I'm hoping this gentleman's seat will keep me tided(is this a word?)over until I get my own. Again I was just tickled to get 4 together. He's had them for decades and just said he's too old to go anymore. Had nice things to say about RR which was nice to hear as well. I hear alot of the old guard bitch and it drives me nuts. I understand they want to win; we all do. Now I have to get my liver in condition and find a way to get my wife disinterested in going.
