Predictions for Mich/NW bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

Well the Big Ten season is finally here and wil bel great one to follow.  Michigan opens up big ten play on the road tomorrow night at Northwestern 7pm ESPN2.  We don't know the status of Hardaway Jr if he will be able to go or not.  We will learn more later today when Belien has his presser.  But with Burke, Morgan and rest of the freshman should be a battle.  Our non-conference playing Big East, Big 12, SEC should help us get off to good start in the Big Ten.  Big ten road wins are always good.  I know in the past, we've struggle with Northwestern because they ran similar stuff to us especially 1-3-1 defense and slow motion passing Princeton offense.  I like us to get off to great start and get the win here stay unbeaten.

It'll be a tough one as all Big Ten road games are, but I think this Michigan team is a bit too talented to drop games like this. Michigan pulls away in the second half and wins 81-67.

Edit: I think Hardaway Jr. will be back, and he'll have a good rebounding day despite being a bit off on the shot. Burke will take a tiny step back from being as close to perfect as he can be, but he'll still be too much for Northwestern. Stauskas gets three 3's, and GRIII makes every alley-oop.

Ummm... Michigan doesn't really run a 1-3-1 defense. Haven't at any major frequency for the last 2-3 years. Not nearly as much as NW or OSU.

I know our non-conference slate featured many home games, but I hate that our first three conference games are away.

Michigan wins by 20 if Hardaway plays, wins by 16 if he doesn't.  I also predict I'll have a great time watching the game live in person, and I'll be told by at least one NW fan to sit down and stop cheering so much.

This is one blessing of the team's depth this year.  In past years, he might have had to suit up to make sure we did not drop a winnable game on the road.  Cats are touch at home as usual, Michigan leads comfortably most of the way but can never pull too far away.  77-66.
