Pioneer HS Tailgate Lot Questions

Submitted by MaizeBlueA2 on October 20th, 2021 at 8:48 PM

For the MGoTailgaters, I've purchased parking in the Pionner HS lot...

1. How early (before 6am) do you need to get in line to get a decent spot?

2. Is the "propane only" an enforced rule or a guideline as long as you're not an idiot or creating some huge fire?

See you all on Saturday!

Has to be a propane grill due to AAPS policy against open flames on school property. A lame ass in a Subaru will probably be patrolling around bitching at people to move their corn hole sets but he will also likely come at you over grilling with coals.

In all honesty, you'll likely want to get there as early as you can if you want a quality spot, and if you are part of a caravan, they do not guarantee consecutive spaces, so there's that.

You are not allowed to have an open pit or fire in the parking lot, so propane it is. You cannot discharge any water if you have an RV or something where that might be an occasional need either.

As long as you are there by 8 you will get a decent spot.  If you want a “premium” spot 7am is fine, none of the first few games had the fence lined with cars before 7:30.  “No Charcoal” rule is definitely enforced when seen.

I lived at the corner of Stadium and Woodland dr. right after college.  We once got 33 cars in our lawn at $20 a car.  No room for corn hole or grilling.

Note for both PHS & AAGOC:  Propane is allowed, but not all of Hank Hill's propane accessories.  No turkey fryers allowed.

Outside of a pandemic pause (2020-21), my friends typically park 2-3 cars.  On occasion, we've set up an EZ-up canopy with 4 walls and no top to hide the fryer.  The same probably would not work with an open flame pit or charcoal grill.

Thanks, everyone! Going to pass on the 2:30am palates, but I'll probably get there around 6/6:30am.

I've got dogs (which is why I specifically chose that lot), so I want to get a decent spot. Where we can settle in, even if we just have to nap in the car for an hour.

As for the grill, it's a little Smokey Joe Weber grill. Wasn't planning on anything crazy. Just a little bacon and eggs in the morning before the game. Much more concerned about the cooler than the grill.
