If we had Rudock coming back at QB then all 3 of our top pass catchers might be on this list. If the starter turns out to be anywhere near as effective a passer as Rudock was at the end of last year we might have three guys with close to or over the thousand yard mark in receiving yards.

I'm kind of surprised Charlton's getting less hype than Frank Clark did around these parts. His numbers seem better than Clark's were, if memory serves.

Could be because Frank put himself in the light more? Between off-field incidents and SHIRTLESS pics/combine number reports, everyone was dearly hoping he lived up to his massive potential and didn't go the other way.

Taco has been quiet, no trouble, for all we know being an upstanding Michigan Student-Athlete and training hard to get his chance as a senior. Then last year he had a great year given his playing time, but was mostly overshadowed by the starters at the two end spots, Wormley and Henry. So yeah, Tac will probably have a better career at Michigan after this year. If he puts it all together he'll be looking at a similar draft spot to Frank, maybe even higher. Really excited for Taco this year.

there is not one offensive lineman listed among the top 25 breakoput players.

Very hard to predict whether an OL player will blow up.  Unlike LB, DBs, d-line guys, etc., they usually don't get many snaps before they take on a full time starting role.

Anyone capable of giving an informed assessment of whether Grant Newsome (who actually had some playing time last year) might be a breakout player at LT?

So Taco was #7 on their list. Taco abused Newsome all spring. This is probably more All-B1G DE against sophomore LT than it is top 10 draft pick against really good but young LT.

We don't need Newsome to be great. We need him to be not a liability. That is, soundly beat every average-or-worse DL opponent and contain Sam Hubbard, Vince Biegel, and any DE supers we might see in the playoffs (I've got us in the NC against LSU, so Arden Key would be a problem).

Newsome will be good by the time he leaves here, but maybe not this year. We just need him to get to at least average, I believe, to have solid OL play.

find out if Newsome does significantly better in August practices than he did in Spring practicecs, but I am guessing that only a few scraps of info will come out of the submarine.

On the up side, Newsome going against top d-line players in practice will probably improve his learing curve/technique improvement.  Most weeks he will have a much stiffer challenge in practice than on Saturday.

When he's already blowed up, then put up a disclaimer.  Charlton's already a productive DE.  So, clickbait?

If anyone's going to break out it's someone who's due.  So, Mone or Mike McCray, based on the hype, since both were injured last year.

Not sure if Rashan counts as "breakout" since he's a true frosh. . . does one need a quiet prior year in college?

McCray would be my pick for breakout player on the team this year. Playing behind our DL, we will have at least one true LB (aka not Peppers) that has a really solid year, whether they are actually that talented or not. McCray looked really good in the spring, he has always had the physical tools, just needed to get healthy. I'd expect him, Gedeon, or both to exceed expectations this fall.
