OT where to find a good newsprint on U of M?

Submitted by cooler 517 on
I have a friend who is going to be in "the county" for 5 months, he's a huge Michigan fan, and die hard mgoblog reader. I know he's missing his family and friends, hopefully learning a lesson, but where can I get a subscription to a newspaper or magazine, that attempts to cover, all things Michigan? If he keeps his good time, he'll be out, just after the Uconn game, so I would like to help keep him informed.

The Daily (Michigan's student-run newspaper) is excellent. It isn't really "daily" in the summer, though. I know you can get a subscription to have it delivered, but I don't know of the specifics. It's probably on their website though: www.michigandaily.com

Yeah, I don't think there is anything actually printed that would be available like that. The Michigan daily does well with that kind of stuff, but it still only has a few articles here and there throughout the off season. I'm not sure if this would be available to him - but those Kindles through amazon, essentially an e-book, allow you to read Mgoblog on them: http://www.amazon.com/MGoBlog/dp/B0029U1UP8 That would be my best guess, but again - not sure that's allowed. Other than that, there are a bunch of preview magazines that come out a couple months before the season starts - like the one brian helps write.

and get him a subscription to a buckeye paper. Tell him he has to read it every day until he gets out. He'll never want to go back! Good to hear you're supporting him. Most people in jail never really meant to do anything wrong, and with a little support, never will again.

You could buy him a subscription to TheWolverine magazine. I believe it only comes once a month but is completely jam-packed with articles and information. My grandpa has been getting it for years and years and always gives me his old copies. Obviously it's run by the same guys who do TheWolverine.com, but it's much more in-depth than the website (of which I am a member). It might be kind of pricey, though.

I used to suscribe to The Wolverine. Can't speak for today, but when I was getting it, it came weekly during football season. bi-weekly during basketball / hockey season, and monthly during the offseason. I think overall, you got 24 issues throughout the year.

Print out Mgoblog diaries and send it to him. Or if you want to punish him, pick a theme that keeps coming up (e.g. 'Big Ten Expansion' or 'How many wins will Michigan have?') and just print those posts (with comments), and send them to him. He'll be trying to hit down vote button...
