It looks like Bradley is about to get the Aston Villa job.  Who's next for the USMNT?  Klinsmann?

There's also some speculation in the article about a possible Landon Donovan transfer.

EDIT: As noted by Speakeasy below, this is not a done deal.  Both Bradley and his agent have denied the report.

For American soccer if he gets the Villa job will be rooting hard for it.  Also like that he resigned he did a good job and deserves more than getting fired but no way he can stay on antoher 4 years.

Bradley did a decent job, but his lineups in the last two games of the World Cup seemed questionable at best. They need a guy like Klinsmann to bring a world mentality to this national team. I think they will be a dangerous team if everyone stays healthy for 2014, but they need a manager that can work off that skill and who is a better tactician.

Klinsmann is from a different mentality, sure, but what's his track record exactly? He led an absolutely stacked host side to only a 3rd place WC finish and had one pretty crappy season at Bayern. It's worth noting that the German team without him did equally well on foreign soil at a WC finishing 3rd in South Africa with a banged up roster.

He certainly has more sex appeal than Bradley, but his coaching credentials are pretty meh.

Klinsmann and Low (who was his second in command) completely revamped the German federation. They implemented a cohesive system and got every level of German football to implement the same system. The youth set-up they initiated is responsible for guys like Ozil, Muller, and the countless other very young players who starred for Germany at this past World Cup. He definitely had a hand in the recent success of the German team. Also, I think you underestimate the accomplishment of back to back third place finishes. Teams like Argentina and Brazil with much more star power haven't sniffed the semi-finals in either of the past two World Cups. Germany also reached the finals of the European championships in between. They have had an incredible recent run of success and the Klinsmann/Low team is largely responsible for that. That track record for Klinsmann is a hell of a lot more impressive than picking up some dude who managed Chivas USA.

I agree with everything you said about Klinsmann.  He has a real eye for talent, especially developmental aspects that are lacking in the US.  Hopefully the things held up the signing process before are taken care of.

He has been living in Huntington Beach for some time now and was actually hired as technical director for LA Galaxy.  He is more familiar with the "American" style than most people think.

he has done a good job of keeping his team together and it's clear that his team respect Bradley.  He does have limitations but he is still a solid coach.

USA need a world class striker(hopefully Davies can help supply that scoring punch, and Altidore continue to develop), a solid middle middies to go along with Bradley and some defenders(beside Gooch who has struggled due to time off of soccer IMO).

Don't follow soccer very closely, so I have to google these guys (well, I at least knew who Bradley was), but who are some of the other candidates aside from Klinsmann if Bradley does not return?
