Well, Bill and Sookie are boring because the only drama they really create is relationship based. If you don't care about either character then it's impossible to find them at all interesting. Personally, Sookie reminds me of someone I know so I can't help but like her... though Bill always seems like such a giant douchebag to me.

...it's just that the rest of the surrounding characters are so much more interesting. Of course, BEEL and SOOKEH are the central characters around which a veritable hurricane of debaucherous funtimes swirl, and as such they sort of have to play the "straight man" role. That said, the only time I've been at all interested in Bill since the beginning of the series is when they did those flashbacks where he was having crazy bleeding death sex with his maker.

All the tv shows that I watch or have watched are great for the first three seasons and gradually decline after that. I found myself thinking Nip/Tuck, Weeds, and Entourage were the best shows ever when watching them, and they were until after their third seasons where they are still interesting but clearly on the decline. True Blood is certainly really interesting, but not as good as Californication IMO. The one show I really like is Royal Pains. The show is super lame and predictable, but the guys a concierge doctor in the Hamptons, whats not to like about that?

The only TV i watch are some of the sports games, the Sunday night line up on HBO and the duo of Burn Notice and Royal Pains. I'd have to say that I enjoy Burn Notice the most. You should check it out sometime. An ex-spy in Miami. It's pretty bad ass.

Naww . . That would put it above (or on par with) these, and its not: 1. X-Files, the best hour long show of all time; 2. Seinfeld, the best sitcom of all time 3. Dexter, the best crime drama of all time 4. John Adams (that probably doesn't even count as a tv show, though) 5. Scooby Doo, (talking original here -- minus scrappy-doo)which is the best Saturday morning cartoon of all time. I like True Blood and watch it regularly. It's my favorite show right now -- but looking forward to new Dexter season. Also thought that Curb your Enthusiasm is coming back for another season -- which is another very good -- but not "greatest of all time" caliber show, as is Entourage. I'd put True Blood in the same category, but wonder how long that story line can hold up.

We agree on X-Files, woo. Never has a single television series done horror, humor, social commentary, sexual tension, serialization and downright awesome character based drama as well as TXF did. Consistently for the first 6 seasons and then season 8.

is the best drama, though the two or three laughs per episode make it a great black comedy as well. Arrested Development is the best comedy of all time. If you think otherwise, you were probably a flipper baby. Now to get all Anglophile on you, I think Yes, Minister and Blackadder are also in the running. Best sketch comedy ever was MTV's The State, narrowly besting their inspiration: Monty Python's Flying Circus. Best News/Interview show is obviously Bill Moyer's Journal. Best sports play by play goes to every mute button, ever.

True blood is indeed an excellent show. All of HBO's series are great. The writing is just so clever and the stories are totally unpredictable. True Blood has great characters too and HBO's shows pretty much always have unique social commentary and realistic portrayals of human behavior (within it's satirical context, of course). Like "God hates fangs". LMAO

True Blood is a good show, but not as good as the Sopranos, Dexter, or Lost IMO. I always describe it to non-watchers as comic-bookish. I hope I don't lose the only two points I have for using two hyphenated terms in one sentence...

True Blood is very good. Although I don't think it is as good as Six Feet Under or Rome. The first season or two of the Sopranos were pretty good. The first season of Heroes was great, then it turned to shit. Curb is great. If it wasn't for Ari, Entourage would be unwatchable. Someone told me The Shield was the best show ever. I haven't seen a single episode, but I love renting TV series. Do you guys think I should rent this, starting with the first season?

My girlfriend always watched Trueblood and I never did. When I moved in with her, I (not by choice) began watching Trueblood as well. I am not hooked beyond hooked on that show, I think it is currently the best show on TV right now. I watch Hung, Entourage and Trueblood every Sunday, and I am a huge huge Entourage fan, but I would miss that before I would miss Trueblood. Very, very good show.
