The ref is bleeding badly!!!!

I know it's early (hey, it's the first game of the season!), but that is probably going to stand as one of the worst calls/non-calls of the season.

It's the SEC.

Holy shit, I thought our tackling was bad.

you should see ball state on ESPNU. MUCH worse.

That's former UM OC Stan Parrish head coaching Ball State.

on BTN right now. Our tackling was never anywhere near as bad as EKU's is.

Saw it, but they ain't my teams - I'm not all that upset...
September 3rd, 2009 at 9:57 PM ^
Yeah, that was pretty unreal. Apparently the Sun Belt ref's got promoted to the SEC.

It was pretty bad. In all fairness to the ref, he probably knows he blew it and he isn't exactly feeling great about it. Every ref has been there and it happens. I'm guessing, if he didn't get a great look at it, he might have thought it was a grab of the shoulder pad or something.
But, yeah, it sucks but it happens to every ref at some point.

He was probably asleep due to the quality of that game. Why is South Carolina always in the opener?
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:10 PM ^
Yeah, as an official (baseball umpire), it sucks hardcore when you know you missed it. That's why I'm glad I never miss it.
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:12 PM ^
lol, I love it.
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:06 PM ^
How in the hell can the ref be standing 5 yards away and not see that?!? What a crock. Hope is isn't refing the M game!
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 PM ^
Did I just get negged for supporting a ref?
Geesh. Someone has to be on their side sometimes. The guy blew it, like I said. The fact is it happens. The ref probably knew it immediately, too.
As someone who does officiate, I can speak from experience - it's one of the toughest jobs to have. You don't get that nice angle and slow motion from the comfort of a lazy boy in real life.

I got a lot of respect for refs - it's a thankless job, and it's tough. You can hate on them all you want, but the vast majority are good at what they do and trying to do their best.
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:50 PM ^
most of them have other jobs.

Bad non-call but that receiver / tight end is to blame for that loss. Catch the ball son!
