OT: NCAA comes down hard on Kentucky

Submitted by darkstar on

Kentucky men's and women's soccer made the unpardonable decision to play an informal scrimmage together against members of the Foo Fighters when the band played Rupp this past May.  As a result "three current men's players, one current women's player and one former men's player, several players will have to sit out two supervised team activities."

Take that you criminals!  In other news Michigan State and Ohio State, among many many others, are still laughing at the NCAA's completely ass-backwards punishments.

The NCAA will take a stand against any athletes trying to have fun while a part of the indentured servitude of college sports. And I have no pity for the students. If they were smart they would just borrow money to go to school and enjoy partying like the rest of us. Now back to the sweatshop of intercollegiate athletics and let the Foo Fighters get back to playing music for the other college kids to enjoy with their freetime.

Most don't understand the true great wisdom of the NCAA and its superbly trained and experienced lawyers - lawyers who can find the tiniest sliver of space tween a rock and a hard space and who have taken the art of understanding the law down to subatomic level technicalities. /s

For North Carolina to have created and perpetrated fake courses to keep their teams eligible, it was OK because the fraud was also perpetrated on ALL students on campus during that time - somehow that made it OK. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/13/sports/unc-north-carolina-ncaa.html. Anything perpetrated on everyone is OK.

Foo Fighter playing soccer crossed four clear red lines for the NCAA: (1) Soccer is not one of the two major revenue making sports, (2) Kentucky is not a power in soccer - it is currently rated about 47, (3) Foo Fighters are decidedly not a favorite band of the NCAA - and Dave Grohl was name checked in the recent episode of Venture Brothers (season 7, episode 6, The Bellicose Proxy) http://www.adultswim.com/videos/the-venture-bros/the-bellicose-proxy/ - in short, everything the people at the NCAA can't stand, (4) Any time kids and coaches are found to have fun without cutting in the NCAA on any and all possible commercial tie-ins, real, imaged or potential is a violation.
