OT- MLB Draft

MLB draft is tonight, anyone as excited as me? *crickets* Yeah...I know it's not exactly hyped up...or exciting. Still, figured I'd see if I can't get some discussion going. I know Fetter is in it, and projectprospect.com recently did a sleeper post, writing a pretty good blurb on him and how he could eventually become a decent major leaguer, mainly because he's got the perfect build for a pitcher. I'll be following with more of an eye towards the tigers, figure I'll throw out a few names I'd like to see them try and get. Tyler Matzek would be great, but unless he's asking for a whole lotta money I don't know if he'll be there. I really like Jason Kipnis a lot if he's there in the 2nd, not very toolsy but he has put up monster numbers in college. Derek Maccullum *SP?*, the middle infielder out of Minnesota would be nice too, especailly with the tigers lack of depth up the middle, with noone to speak of outside of Iorg and Worth, who are both having incredibly dissapointing seasons in the minors. I think they probably end up taking a power arm in the first though, maybe Shelby Miller, and then just drafting whoever is best available from then on out. Grant Green is another possibility, although a bit of a reach at number 9 overall, still, they do need a SS eventually, and he was very, very highly though of coming into a year in which he dissapointed by only hitting like, 310 or something.

I can't say that I will be watching but I will keep an eye on where Daniel Fields out of UD Jesuit goes. He is a top prospect at SS and is also signed with Michigan. He is a big time recruit so it would be nice if he chose school over the pros. Maybe we will get lucky and he will get drafted by the Nationals or something.

I'm a die-hard Giants fan. We're getting the 6th pick. I want them to take another hitter (Donovan Tate or Tim Wheeler) rather than the stud starting pitcher that Sabean tends to prefer. Giants already have Lincecum and Cain in the bigs and Bumgarner and Alderson in the minors. They're as set with pitching for the long term as any organization in baseball. They need bats bats bats and more bats.
