OT - Looking up recruiting prior to '02 on the internet?
some copies of the old preseason mags, if you can find them. also, the Wolverine started their glossy season preview in 1998, IIRC. they usually had old recruiting rankings. also, that dude mike desimone (see the left sidebar) has some old stuff.
Beat me to it
Cool. Thanks, guys.
but Mike DeSimone's page is a great jumping-off point.

I went to DeSimone's website. If you look at the players from 1993-2004, approximately three out of five ended up playing out their eligibility.
So, basically, if the pattern continues, out of 25 recruits, 15 will play as seniors. And since the internet has become so much more popular and affected the recruiting scene, I would expect that sixty percent to go down in this era. Players communicate with each other more, and more players will go somewhere they think they have a better chance to play.
The days of programs like UM making prospects disappear and be happy to wear the uniform while not playing are pretty much gone(unless your name is Cone). This is probably better for everyone in the long run; kids are more likely to end up in the right place and coaches are more likely to get "their" kind of player.
That really makes the attrition in RR's first year look more like business as usual than the negative indicator RR's detractors seem to think it is.
Occasionally, google will lead me to Tom Lemming's old rankings on ESPN. Seems to go back to 98 or so.
