OT-John U Bacon to speak in Sylvania, OH

U of M Club of Greater Toledo is hosting an event that I thought many would be interested in. 

He will be promoting his new book, but since we are inviting him in, I am sure that there will

 be a focus on Michigan and his history covering Bo and Rich Rod.

For those who are unfamiliar with Google maps and Mapquest, Sylvania is the first exit

into OH-NO when going south on US 23.  Highland Meadows Golf Club is where they

hold the Kroger-Jamie Farr LPGA.  It is less than 10 minutes from the highway.

Attention All Area Alumni!! Join us at Highland Meadows Golf Club on Tuesday September 18, 2014 from 5:30 PM – 8 PM for our Fall Kickoff Party! Michigan Alum John U. Bacon will be our featured guest. John is a best selling author and award-winning speaker, college teacher, and hockey coach, who appears often on TV and radio. He has authored or coauthored six books on sports and business, including Walgreens: America’s Corner Store in 2004, Cirque du Soleil: The Spark in 2006, Bo’s Lasting Lessons: The Legendary Coach Teaches the Timeless Fundamentals of Leadership, which hitThe New York Times and The Wall Street Journal’s Business Best Seller lists.

Bacon teaches at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism and the University of Michigan, where the students selected him for the 2009 Golden Apple award, given annually to the University’s top teacher.

John will have copies of his books on hand for sale and signing.  Appetizers will be provided. Cash bar.

$5 for Alumni Association members; $10 for non alumni association members. ALUMNI THAT GRADUATED IN 2010 OR LATER ARE FREE.

  • Anything Michigan sports related - John co-authored Bo's Lasting Lessons and that book about Rich Rod
  • Anything related to other Big Ten teams or upcoming opponents - John wrote about Penn State, Ohio State, and Northwestern, and Michigan
  • Stuff about the blog itself - John is an often mentioned friend of the blog.
  • University of Michigan topics that don't relate to sports - John teaches at UofM

That's pretty much four for four. Folks, the OT rules aren't that hard. I hate to be an OT-nazi (a distant relative of the grammar nazi) but OT time is over, so if this was OT, it shouldn't be on the board, but it so clearly is on topic.
