OT: I'm Shmacked - Vote for UM

Submitted by Nothing.But.10ve on

Ladies and Gents, there has been a facebook vote going around for I'm Shmacked.  For those of you who don't know what it is by now, you'll probably hate it.  Nonetheless, it is a crew that goes around and makes videos about social life on college campuses.  The vote is between us and Penn State.  The winner will have I'm Shmacked come in during welcome week and film the awesomeness that takes place on campus.  They will go around to frat parties, bars, campus landmarks, etc. and actually do a damn good job of putting together a video.  I don't know how to embed but you can check this one out from last year  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwXvJM-tvr4

Anyway, I know the MGoCommunity loves polls.  Moreover, I know this community loves shooting us up from 2nd to 1st, and that is what we're in need of.  We've been down a solid 60 votes for quite some time and I know this blog has the capability of putting us over the top.  If you have any interest in seeing what us degenerate students do on campus before classes commence, please take 5 seconds out of your day and vote.  https://www.facebook.com/questions/250546221715441/

How is this relevant to recruiting you ask?  High school kids love parties.  Not all, but most.  When they go to youtube and see a raging social scene on campus, it can be that one confirmation they were looking for which was unavailable during a summer visit.  So if you guys want Su'a to flip from USC and Scarbrough to shock the world, vote.

Why would I want to see a video of students decorating their dorms, studying for classes early, discussing worldly events, engaging in non alcoholic social events that end promptly at 8 and going to bed by 9 in their gender segregated dorms?

Penn State is probably going to turn into a pretty crazy party school.  I mean their basketball team has always been awful and their football team is about to be even worse, so they'll all just turn to alcohol to feel better.

Rather be on BA

I can definitely see how many on the blog may not like the Im Shmacked videos, personally though I love 'em.  I voted.  Too bad I have to be out of town for welcome week to get observational hours in...

Welcome week is awesome. There's a billion parties, the bars are packed, and there's no responsibility yet. When i was a student i felt that welcome week came full circle for the first home football game when 100,000 people are partying together. I kinda feel bad that the freshmen have to wait another week to experience michigan football first hand. I think "im shmacked" is losing a lot of good footage without a home game...

If you are thinking you would rather not vote for this put it this way..tons of UM students want it and many of you would have too when you were in college. Vote UM!!!

Would it be weird to come in a day early to relive glory days with my soon to be brother-in-law who is a current student?  Probably.

Will I do it anyway? Let's be honest, only if the fiance gives me permission (so no).

Also, I voted.

I don't really have a problem with the parties.  I partook in them and even hosted a few.  I'm just not a big fan of them in being publically visible in any aspect.  A wise man keeps certain aspects of life off Facebook, Youtube, whereever these episodes end up.  I also have no interest in recruiting undergrads based solely on the parties.  When I came here I assumed Michigan, like any large land grant school, would have a party scene.  If you care enough about parties to go beyond that, this is not the school for you.  Plus the warm weather schools always have and always will kick our ass on the party scene.  When you can booze it up on the beach in Florida 9 months out of the year whereas we have snow on the ground 7 months out of the year, the warm weather wins.

Trying to recruit some film crew to come here and film drunk undergrads seems to move more in the direction of MSU paying The Situation to show up on campus.

Baiscally I know what you degenerate students do during welcome week.  Only back in my day undergrads were smart enough not to make videos that might provoke a potential crackdown by the admins.

I'm Schmacked kinda sucks unfortunately. Pregaming with Pat had better party footage and it was a joke haha I'm Schmacked just needs to pick better frats to pregame with, and explore the campus more (basing this on their previous UMich vid)
