OT: Day 1 of the PGA w/John Daly on the early Leader Board

Submitted by rob f on May 19th, 2022 at 12:15 PM

Just now tuned in to ESPN to see the biggest early surprise: John Daly -2 after 13 holes, 2 shots behind Rory McIlroy after 9.  Though it's extremely unlikely Daly can sustain his early success, it's just a fun blast from the past to look at the board and see him there.

A lot of other storylines going on today in that tournament, including the obvious ones re: Tiger Woods and an absent defending champion (Phil Mickelson).

That all said, who's everyone got this weekend, and how much of the tournament do you plan to watch?

Nothing yet, as Woods is already 7 behind the leader McIlroy after 12 holes while playing in the same group.  He looks good, no longer limping like was obvious at The Masters, but it has been an early struggle for him while simultaneously Rory is doing everything right so far.

A late 1st round update for those interested: Rory McIlroy still leads (-5) and is likely to remain there once the day is over, he's a stroke ahead of Will Zalatoris and Tim Hoge, followed by 3 golfers at -3 and a large group at -2 (including two golfers who are -2 with several holes remaining).

Nearly 2/3 of the field are done for the day---the final threesome just now finished their 9th---so another 90 minutes or so of live action remains today.

Oh yeah, as for the golfers I mentioned in my OP:

-John Daly faded in the back 9 to +2 (he was -2 after 10)

-Tiger slipped to +4 after being -2 after 5 holes

Nice start by Rory, but by no means is he in control, as a total of 27 golfers are currently under par.

have $ on JT, Cam Smith and Scheffler.

Thought Scheffler was going to have a big day after the early eagle.  JT looks sharp.  if his putter catches fire, its going to be quite the battle with him Rory, and Cam Smith

Rob, Just now saw your comment from the other day about copy and pasting photos from the personal library. It seems I was wrong (nothing new). When I paste a file from my personal photos, it originally shows up in the comment box. But then when I click "save" it disappears and just shows some icon like this:

It does let me copy and past from online photos/gifs, though.

Thanks for the response.

I think there's a way to post photos if you have the know-how to convert them to certain formats. But since over 90% of my forum activity is by phone and that's where most of my photos are, I haven't yet figured it out on my laptop.
