OT- Boozer

Submitted by romoteen14 on
Does anyone know any updates on him is he going anywhere? Charlie Villanueva said on Twitter Detroit has a big move coming. Does anyone think we are still trading him for RIP

There is no way Utah is trading Boozer for Rip. Rip has 3 years left at $11-12M a season on his contract. The only -- repeat only -- reason Utah wants to trade Boozer is that they can't afford both him and Milsap. Boozer makes $12M this season, so for Utah it makes zero sense to trade for someone that makes the same amount, but has a longer contract.

I think it still could. It would make sense that Detroit could use some of its cap space (from trading Affalo and Sharpe)+ Rip to trade for Boozer and another player like CJ Miles or Kosta Koufos. I'm not a fan of either player but it would free up some instant cap space for the Jazz and they wouldn't have 25 Million tied up at power forwad next season. Seems to make sense...we will see.

I would rather have David Lee than Boozer at this point. Sure, I expect Boozer to make a comeback after his injuries last year, but Lee is a younger player with a bit more upside, and seems like a better teammate than Boozer.

I like David Lee and would love to see him on the Pistons. Tough player. Decent defender. Good rebounder. But do you honestly think he has more upside that Boozer. Boozer is an all star that can create his own offense. I don't see that ever being a possibility for Lee.

My issue with Boozer is that I think this team would be better served with less guys clamoring for the ball and at least a few guys willing to do "the little things" as they say. Will Gordon, Charlie V, and Rip, you have 3 guys who like to have the ball in their hands and who are liabilities on defense (have not seen Charlie V much, but I don't remember him being much in the way of a defender in college). Prince is a good defender, but if you add Boozer then you have 4 average or below defenders on the court, and I think the defensive lapses will not be offset by increased offensive efficiency. With Lee, you have a guy who is used to being a 2nd or 3rd option, who will rebound and play solid defense, and who can score enough to keep defenses honest. If Dumars really wants to play a more perimeter game, adding Boozer would likely lead to a disgruntled PF complaining about his touches by mid-December. I'm not against Detroit getting Boozer, but Lee would be cheaper and a better fit, at least based on what I've seen of this team.

David Lee is a guy that seems to already be banging his head on his ceiling. He has virtually zero upside. He will be what he is - an excellent rebounder/hustler with little to no offensive game, whose points come off the offensive glass.

Yahoo Sports, and a couple other places are saying that Miami is working on a 3 team trade for Boozer. I guess they're also trying to sign Lamar Odom. They also said Portland is trying to get Tayshaun in a 3 team deal that would land the Pistons Boozer.

Maybe its just me but it seems like Yahoo is the last hope for sports journalism. It seems like every time a news story breaks it's some guy no one has ever heard of from yahoo. I think both the Conneticut and USC scandals were broke by Yahoo. Sorry had to be said...I will now get back on topic.

There's a good chance that down the road, we'll be happy that Billups was traded. At the start of next season, he'll be 33 years old, entering his 13th season, and making $13 million. I'll be very surprised if he can keep up his level of productivity. Point guard is a young man's position.

Chicago media is saying Boozer for Heinrich and Ty Thomas; however, most recent the reports are indicating Utah's asking price may be lowering out of desperation. Who knows.

I don't think it's inconceivable that the Pistons would want to keep Rip in the starting lineup. Even if he's the best wing guard on the roster, Ben Gordon might be more effective coming off the bench for 30-35 minutes a game. Seems like he's one of those guys that feels comfortable in that role (like Ginobili, Jason Terry, etc.).

I think Dumars is a pretty smart guy but you have to wonder what was he thinking when he signed Rip. I guess we have to trust Dumars once again
