i haven't had contact with either of them since our days bouncing at charlies and a class we all took together, lo those many years ago. would be fun to catch up about life outside the ring in the intervening decades.

I just explained to my wife that professional wrestling is not “fake.” It’s scripted, sports entertainment with pre-determined outcomes.
Been a pro wrestling fan for 40 years. Fake has never been the right way to describe it. It's no more "fake" than a movie or a rock concert. Funny how people can't make that distinction
As I explained to her at the end of one match, those were real ladders. Some of the stuff they pull off without getting seriously injured is amazing.
That's exactly what it is.
When done correctly, and WWE has been doing this correctly for about 2 to 3 years and especially the last 3 to 6 months, it's extremely entertaining.

Best wrestling I ever saw was early 80s while a jarhead in NC.We had 3 hours of mid Atlantic,Georgia and Florida every Saturday in the barracks before we hit the e club and the ville.Ric Flair,Dusty,Ole and Gordon Solie.I always thought Vince had an inferior production even he is now a billionaire.
