Labor Day Games Open Thread
On tap for later tonight is the big one, Boise State vs. Virginia Tech. Right now Maryland is leading Navy 14-0.
I've liked Navy but have not been as big a believer in them as many others. Most of their wins come against the bottom third of 1-A competition. However, most people thought Maryland would be in or close to the bottom third of 1-A teams. The only reason they weren't firing Friedgen is for money reasons.
I know it's early in the game and the season, but is Maryland not going to be terrible this year?
My ESPN Streak for the Cash pick said that Navy would win by more points than Maryland scores TDs + FGs. We'll see how that works out.

20-14 at the half. This should be entertaining in the 2nd half.

Brotzman took an awkward hit right there. Something to watch for in the next half with FGs.

Looked away just before the punt to end the half, so this question may be easily answered. Why were they punting? Why not go for a hail mary or just take a knee. What was the point in punting? Can't you argue there's just as much (or more!) risk of a punt return as there is for an interception if they went for it?
edit: I believe they were past the 50. no?

Yeah. They were near the 50. I would have gone hail mary on that, but they looked like they just manted to get to the lockerrooms. Might have been a missed oportunity there. Unless their QB can't chuck it 50 yards that is.
