Howe family statement on Gordie's status
Published on the Red Wing's official site. Mark Howe on his father's condition:
The Howe family would like to thank friends, family and fans for your overwhelming well-wishes, prayers and support for Gordie. He suffered a significant stroke on Sunday morning while at his daughter's home in Lubbock, Texas. His condition remains guarded although he is showing some signs of improvement. We acknowledge that there is a long road to recovery ahead, but Dad's spirits are good and his competitive attitude remains strong.

I couldn't decide if this was Michigan related until I read through the whole post either. Actually, I still don't know. Hopefully the OP or mods respond soon.

His son, Murray, is a Michigan grad, and I believe Murray's wife is, too.

people who care about the "OT" tag get on my nerves to no end. It's like reading comprehension goes out the window.

it's good to hear that Gordie is showing some improvement.
Secondary to that, though, why is it so d*** crucial to label something as important as an update on Mr. Hockey's health as OT??? The man is an icon, a living legend for so many good reasons, that it seems rather anal to pick this thread apart over labeling. sheeesh!

I was in the concourse at the Buffalo airport years ago when I saw him. He was past his playing days, looked great & was with his wife, some grandkids & maybe his daughter. It struck me what great presence he had.

I think I'll write him tonight. All the best to him and his family.

Best of luck, Gordie! My grandpa had dementia so I know how tough coming back from any form of trauma.
