I wouldn't worry about the 5'9" thing at all, whatsoever.
Statiscially, NFL running-backs are getting shorter and shorter.
Lower center of gravity, lower pad-height, less visible behind the line, short limbs, more compact, physically, the more you resemble a cannonball (spherically) the better you are.
With advances in nutrition and athletic training, it only makes sense that backs would become shorter, as previously weight was more strongly a function of height.
Also, whenever you see a recruit, the more he already looks like a man, the better. A large part of becoming a professional athlete, has to do with physically maturing earlier rather than later. There's great research on this with Hockey players and cut-off age for youth leagues.
Basically, this guy looks like he could pass for 25 already. Good.
