Great as always, Seth. Thanks for continuing to write about the football team.

My current hunch, based upon…

My current hunch, based upon nothing, is that all "insiders" are grasping at straws. Sam's big lead  is that Bill Martin's son roomed with Shaka at Kenyon. Certainly nothing that approaches a "gut feeling." Maybe Warde is holding his cards close to the vest, and insiders are finding minutia in the periphery in order to fuel our content-starved psyches? Or maybe Shaka is in the pole position and I'll want to die. Time will tell.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26737028/michigan-beilein-take-cavs-job

Beilein has run model programs in the college, free of scandal and impropriety. In recent years, he's become increasingly frustrated with the nature of college basketball recruiting and the retention of top players. The impending loss of freshman Ignas Brazdiekis with Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole to the NBA draft dented what might have been a national championship contender.

I get that the NBA is a fairer competition, particularly when Dan Gilbert is bankrolling your operation. Does this point to a bigger issue in college basketball if a lifer like John Beilein bails, in part, due to the nature of recruiting? Is it instead that there are only 30 NBA jobs, and this was a great chance for him? A little of both?

I work in tech, help design and build interfaces for mobile products, etc. My disposition, as a result, is to think about things of this sort and comment about them because the industry at large tries to optimize for things such as low tap count, reduced time navigating.

I acknowledge that not everyone cares about it.

It's not a huge deal, but a single-tap solution would improve usability.

One feature I would love to see is, on mobile, a button that auto-scrolls me down to the MGoBoard when I first get to the site. Currently, it's either a lot of scrolling or three taps in order to get to the board.

I had to listen to the games

I had to listen to the games on the radio much more than I would have liked this year. I respect Jim Brandstatter as a Michigan man, and even as a color analyst. That being said, his play-by-play is horrendous. Something needs to be done to make the radio broadcasts understandable again.

Pocket Casts is my favorite.

Pocket Casts is my favorite. It's $3.99, but a really good app for both podcast listening and discovery.

I keep thinking and hoping that there will be a counter executed at some point, when in this package. At least that's what I want to believe.

Your nuanced response really cleared things up for me, though.

This is a really smart move

This is a really smart move by TPT. I don't see their articles posted on twitter too often, unless they bring up some well trodden controversy. Having exclusive content that interests one of the largest, most passionate fan bases in the world ought to drive some traffic.

The app hasn't had an update

The app hasn't had an update since April 5, 2013. The github repo (https://github.com/SeanPONeil/MGoBlog) has commits from spring 2015, though.

I don't really know what the status of the project is, or if Brian and Seth have any interest in an app refresh, but it really is due. With my full-time gig, I don't think I could do a refresh of the application quickly. If there were other MGoAndroid developers out there, I would be interested in a collaborative effort.

Thoughts?

The rankings that tell me the things I want to hear are the rankings I like the most.

For some reason, that title didn't make me think it contained coaches poll info. If mods want to nuke this thread, that's cool.

Did you read the rankings thread?

Short's Bellaire Brown,

Short's Bellaire Brown, supplemented by Lagavulin in victory or defeat (but obviously victory).

I used to have Short's as one of the second-tier Michigan brewers. Boy, was I wrong.

I'm still blocked by Tim

I'm still blocked by Tim Kawakami.

He said he could care less. I merely asked him why he didn't.

I'll typically drink capps,

I'll typically drink capps, cortados (might see them called gibraltars at some shops), or espresso shots.

The more milk in the drink, the more milk you're going to taste, but whatever tastes best to you is what's best for you to drink.

The thicker Chemex filters do

The thicker Chemex filters do reduce the ability to get the fullest flavor profiles, but in exchange you avoid more bitterness. I am all about the Clever dripper, though! Siphons are expensive, but I could probably convince myself to buy one someday.

I would disagree with this,

I would disagree with this, as it relates to pour over coffee. Although the learning curve can be a little steep for something like a V60 pour over, there are multiple brew methods that make a well-balanced cup without much struggle. Even though I try to make coffee at home as much as possible, I do go to Espresso Bar in A2 a few times a week because their espresso game is way better than I could ever hope mine to be. Espresso's hard, man.

My favorite simple brew method is the Clever Dripper (http://www.amazon.com/Coffee-Shrub-Clever-Dripper-Ounces/dp/B00EOM5RN0/…). Put a filter in, run water through it, dump the fresh grounds in, fill to the top with water, wait 3 minutes. Really, really good!

Still, you can learn the common coffee shop techniques fairly easily, especially if you drink coffee most mornings.

Chemex

I've grown fond of using the Chemex. My favorite Michigan roasters are Populace Coffee (Bay City) and Anthology Coffee (Detroit).

Intelligentsia and Ritual are two of the best roasters in the country, IMO.

I don't get it, man. This

I don't get it, man. This situation isn't comparable to Shane's concussion, and subsequent return to that game. Is this going to be our reality for the next few years? Whenever anything happens, some troll will crawl out and say, "Ha! You're inconsistent! You're a hypocrite! You would be mad if this were Brady Hoke or Dave Brandon! Hahaha!"

Taking the time to respond to this means that the troll has won, but I guess that's what the internet exists for.

Jeff Moss seems to get off on

Jeff Moss seems to get off on tearing down people who, to him, are relative strangers. His obsession with Anthony Fenech is particularly troubling.

He sort of masks it in a facade of media reporting, which is what I guess makes it acceptable to some people? Either way, I was pretty disappointed to see Brian hopping on a podcast with him last year.
