Gardner’s ability to conduct reads in our offense
I have read tons about his maturation as a passer, his leadership and athleticism, all awesome stuff. However, does anyone know much about his ability to make the required reads in our offense? You don’t get this sort of info from a QB camp and I have not seen it in his HS video either since it does not make the highlights. With the possibility of him enrolling early seemingly going out the window, I don’t see how he could be able to manage the complexity of our offense without a spring to go live and a summer to reinforce what he was doing. That would seem to put him on ice for next year with the exceptions of trick plays, a specific package or late season play. Any updates here?

How about we wait for him to sign a LOI before we worry about this?

I agree with the above posters about waiting. However for the sake of argument I think this is an example of why I think he should redshirt next year. He's an excellent prospect already and if he had a year to just learn without being in the spotlight...I'm thinking championships.

I agree and unless he flat out performs better and demonstrates a better understanding than tate or denard, rich rod will redshirt him, now that he finally has the luxury of doing so. giving him a year behind the scenes will help in his transition...and then we unleash him!
