Final Coaches Poll Released, RR's included
Awesome graphical representation (HT: the Daily's Nicole Auerbach).
Rich Rod's UNACCEPTABLE Vote:
1. Oregon
2. Auburn
3. TCU
4. Wisconsin
5. Ohio State
6. Stanford
7. Michigan State
8. Oklahoma
9. Arkansas
10. Virginia Tech
11. Boise State
12. Missouri
13. LSU
14. Oklahoma State
15. Nevada
16. South Carolina
17. Nebraska
18. Alabama
19. Texas A&M
20. Utah
21. Mississippi State
22. Central Florida
23. West Virginia
24. Florida State
25. NC State
He's a little higher than average on Mizzou, South Carolina, and a little lower on Texas A&M and WVU. He was only one of three to include NC State, the other two both slotting them at 24.
Other notes, Mike Locksley of New Mexico hates him some Alabama. He has them at #23, 2 below the next most pessimistic and one of only 3 to put them in the 20s.
Speaking of Locksley, he was only one of 3 coaches not to have Auburn vs Oregon in the MNC. He and Kyle Wittingham of Utah both had TCU at #2. Ackley at Idaho put TCU at #1.
A lot of the mid-major coaches were the harshest against Boise State. Locksley put them at 16, Ackley at 14,
Harbaugh hates Wisconsin and thinks the Big Ten's top three are weak compared to the rest. Wisconsin checks in at #8.
Dantonio puts his Spartans at #4. Also has Buckeyes one spot ahead of the Badgers at 5 and 6. Zook puts Spartans at #5, one behind the Badgers.

No way can they be ranked lower

Boise St. barely beat VT. VT has won 10 straight. At this point in the season VT is better than BSU. Using your argument then "No way can Michigan State be ranked lower than Wisconsin".

To which I would respond, "no way MSU can be ranked ahead of Iowa."
December 5th, 2010 at 11:08 PM ^
"No way Iowa can be higher than Minnes-... nevermind."

"Slippery Rock beat Westminster, which beat West Virginia Wesleyan, which beat Duquesne, which beat Pitt, which beat Notre Dame, which beat Northwestern, which beat Minnesota."
December 6th, 2010 at 12:03 AM ^
So Slippery Rock can beat Michigan State!

Maybe if he spent less time breaking down everyone else to make the perfect ballot, Michigan would win more.
Actually, I wonder which grad assistant fills out his ballot.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
It's not a grad Assit, it's a PR guy... Tho, it might have RR fingerprint on it, given that the season is over..

Dantonio know he is an ass? They didn't play osu, struggled against Purdue and PSU while Wisconsin got progressively better as the season went on. Ranking his team above osu and all the other shenanigans he has pulled makes him the MSU coach I loathe the most.

He demolished Wisconisin, the concensus #4. If I was him I would think I should be ranked higher than Wisconisin.
The thing I find funny is Bo Pelini's who from what I saw ranks MSU the lowest at 11. With Dan Mullins ranking them 10th.
Hey Pelini you're now in the Big 10, lets get with the program! Pelini somehow ranks his team 8th.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^
they demolished wisconsin? leading by 3 with less than 2 minutes left, and scoring on 4th down is hardly demolishing...
December 5th, 2010 at 10:32 PM ^
They won by 10. That last touchdown drive was not a fluke. Going 85 yards over 8 minutes in the 4th. They still won by 10 despite losing 3 turnovers compared to 0 and had 150 more yards than Wisconsin.
I didn't say it was a great arguement, but if i was him i would think i should be ranked higher than Wisconsin. Dantonio is enough of a douche that we can hate him for many other things. This is nothing major.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
Is this a surprise? This is just typical Michigan State. When they have a small run of being good at anything other than basketball, they assume they are one of the best in the nation. Nothing too surprising here.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
It's BS that he put OSU ahead of Wisconsin (Tressel's probably buying him dinner for that one), but every coach ranks their own team a little higher than the norm.
December 5th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
Dantonio is lying to himself.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^
nothing out of the ordinary then i guess
December 5th, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^
Oh, and three of the 5 lowest votes for Stanford came from the Midwest in Bielema, Zook, Dantonio. All had the Cardinal at #7. RR and Tressel both had them at #6.
They're all trying to downplay him by voting him low because none of them want him in the Big Ten.

After this week, who could blame him for leaving them off entirely?

how I would loved to have seen Wisconsin play Stanford in the Rose...have a feeling Harbaugh would have gotten a cold dose of reality if that had happened...
December 5th, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
i wonder why RR negged WVU?
December 5th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
Has the Coaches' poll always been published with each individual vote identified? Seems kind of creepy.
December 5th, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
It's had periods of publicized ballots and it's had periods without it. The current method is that only the final ballot is made public. So this is the first one of the year we've seen.

The graphical representation is pretty cool, a great way to look at the spread of voting for each time. I'd love to see this for the blogpoll.

What a tool for putting State #4. I hate him even more. I cant wait for State to get wrecked by Bama. for 1 day ROLL TIDE
