ESPN FPI Team Efficiencies Update, Wk. 5

Submitted by Ecky Pting on

The updated FPI team efficiency ratings have been posted and Michigan, overall, slips to #5 from #4, getting passed by Washington after its ruthless obliteration of Stanford. Curiously, Louisville maintains the #1 spot despite its tight road loss to #7 Clemson.OSU climbs back up to #2 from #3. The U-M splits are offense, #18 (down from #7); defense, #8 (up 2 spots from #8); and special teams plummets from #2 to #15.

Of U-M's 2016 opponents, Colorado at #11 remains the highest rated team U-M will have faced before meeting OSU in November, HOWEVER, Maryland is right behind the Buffs at #12. The already vanquished UCF is currently rated above 6 of Michigan's other opponents this season, including Sparty!

Here's the selectively abbreviated synopsis of the ratings. Click the link above to see the whole list &/or sort by category:

Have to give a great deal of credit to Maryland. They are playing better than projected and will be a worthy opponent in November. Done looking ahead. Let's go out and destroy Rutgers next week.
