Both 2021 football commits invited to UA All-American Game
La Grange Park (IL) Nazareth Academy quarterback J.J. McCarthy and Utica (MI) Stevenson offensive tackle Giovanni El-Hadi have both been invited to the Under Armour All-American Game for 2021. That's not too surprising since both are 247 Composite top-100 players, but it's a good sign that these guys are getting these types of honors already.

I meant to correct it to Sterling Heights Stevenson, but I can't edit the OP.

The selections are made for an all star game that is more than a year away? That seems more than a little ridiculous. I get that these games are little more than recruiting showcases, but maybe let the guys play their junior year of football before selecting them.
I was thinking the same thing. These AS games compete so hard for kids that they have to offer sophomores?
I agree to an extent, but you want to get in on the good ones before the All-American Bowl or Polynesian Bowl or whatever other bowl gets to them. Some guys play in multiple all-star games, but most stick to one.
Magnus, would I be correct in stating that the 2021 instate Michigan class is almost as good as the 2017 class?
Yeah, I think it's a pretty darn good class, compared to most years. It might not be as exciting because several of the top guys are linemen (instead of Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ambry Thomas, etc.), but it's probably just as talented, if not more.
I think both should sit out in order to prepare for the combine.
Meaningless all star game is as at least as meaningless as other games we deem meaningless here, especially since they arent trying to get a roster spot somewhere being already committed.
Good stuff Magnus.
I didn't realize El-Hadi was such a high ranked recruit... is he slated to OG or OT ?
Offensive tackle.
at 6'4 ? So is Runyan the new size standard ?
Will he still be 6'4" in 2021-2025? Nobody knows.
He does have a full beard which is usually a sign that he’s done growing, but like you said, nobody knows.
What, you think cuz he's Irish he can't grow after he's a sophomore?
