Barwis Methods = Michigans Core 6?

Submitted by Wolverman on

I know Core6 seems to be a one stop shop for strength and conditioning plus sports specific coaching. Is that what Barwis is doing at Barwis methods? it would definately help getting high school players more college ready in the state of Michigan.

I live in Arizona so i'm stuck with only the basic information from Barwis's facebook and website.

If you have done p90x2 and watched any of the Barwis methods videos, you would think that Tony Horton basically stood the program from Barwis. At a minimum many of the exercises are similar as the concept. Just none of the powerlifting aspects, which are hard to do in the home gym environment that p90x2 is trying to sell.

Just a thought, but maybe this one gym is about equal to what he could get as an S&C coach, but if he plans on opening another couple locations he might easily make more than he would on a campus.

That, and there's no more packing up and moving every so many years, which has to be worth something to most people.

First, his family loves Ann Arbor (and who can blame them?).  Second, I believe he is opening up other locations and has already expanded this gym once.  So I am guessing he is doing pretty good right now.  Given that at least one MSU player has started to train there, the word among the pros and future pros must be heavily endorsing him.

Barwis has probably figured out that when you are working in an athletic department, your employment is at the whim of the administration and the AD, and that a new AD or president can come in and pull the carpet out from under you at any time so that he can "bring in his own people."  Also, you are not the boss when you work for anyone else.

Barwis is the boss now, and he doesn't have to answer to any administrators.  He has to get results and market himself decently; he does a good job of both.  Barwis' unique marketing proposition is that he has worked with elite athletes who still come back to him, even though they have access to other training programs.  That kind of "social proof" is like having nuggets of gold dumped at your door.

Bawris is one of those "lucky" people who can make it on his own without working for someone else.
