2024 Michigan Football Season Ticket Pricing

Michigan announced 2024 football season ticket pricing.  As a season ticket holder I didn’t see an email and just found this on mgoblue.

All season tickets will be $660 for 2024.  Per game price is $82.50 up from $77.50 the past 3 years according to the article.  This cost does not include the seat licensing.

Also in the article seat licensing is slightly changing as they are adding more tiers within each tier.  For example in the blue tier there will be a lower, middle and upper tier.  This will be the same for each tier in the bowl.  Since I am in the new upper blue tier it appears I will have no increase for the PSL side.  Not sure how it works out for other tiers.

Here is the link and inside the article is a breakdown of costs for each tier.

Not surprised at all. Everything has gone up 35% post Covid. Parking for the game has certainly doubled. How much will Beer cost and the game next year? $15 is my guess

Makes sense given the team’s performance, inflation and the ridiculously good schedule next year.

I love having season tickets, but they really seem intent on pricing out anyone who’s middle class at these games. Just an unreal amount of money for some of these seats.

Oh well, I doubt it’ll stop me from maintaining my seats but if my math is correct my 6 tickets now go up from $7,468 for last year to $8,910 for 2024. Woo wee!

Warde:

"We've been evaluating the data and carefully weighing our options.  After evaluating multiple factors, including the changes coming to the Big Ten Conference due to expansion, the quality of our future football schedules, and benchmarking other football programs, we are taking this step to ENSURE THE CONTINUED SUCCESS AND SUSTAINABILITY of our football program and future athletic operations."

My capitals above.  What a crock.  Expansion and the multi-billion $ TV contract already does all that.  We finally have a decent home game schedule and prices go up.  Our season tickets are Maize row 36.  I'm guessing we'll be lower tier, but might be middle.  If lower, our total cost goes up 20%!  Now that includes an extra game vs last year, to be fair, so = 8/7 = 14%.  Doesn't include parking.

So one quick estimate: 110,000 seats X $400 average increase (season ticket holder or not) = $44M extra.  One eighth is the extra game, so that's $38.5M in pure price increase!

And there'll be LESS football and MORE ad time delay each game.  At some point, I'll just stop going and watch the games on delay so I can save the $, skip the ads, and save 5+ hours a weekend in the fall (ads, driving and walking time).

It's truly grating knowing how rich the athletic department is, given the TV contract increases they're getting, yet the fans are paying this extra cost.

Now if the PLAYERS, who are earning this $ with their blood, sweat, and tears, would get every penny of that $38.5M, I'd be QUITE HAPPY to pay it!

For me in the blue upper and not including the cost of the extra game compared to last season my increase is only $40 per season ticket.  If you take into account the extra game then I am paying 117.50 extra per season ticket.  Your estimate may be high.  Especially since there are less seats lower than higher due to the shape of the bowl.

Overall,  I'm a little surprised it's only $5 per game. The tiered PSL is a bit disconcerting, makes it feel like it's  a matter of time before the same is done with tickets themselves. Once those levels are established it'll be too easy to upcharge the seats on those tiers.

Thanks for the heads up.  I think the Texas game next year is going to set records for secondary market prices, like the old days when we were poor kids and the ND tickets paid for the rest of the season!

I was a little worried when I saw this post, but it doesn’t look like the impact will be as bad as it could have been.  My section 4 seats are likely in the blue middle tier section, but the difference in tier levels seems mostly insignificant.  I got worried a bit about Michigan trying to match prices of other schools because Nebraska fans sitting near our seats told us they would have to donate over $1000 each to get those seats.  (A quick Google search verified this.)
