Best Podcast Intro Ever: MGoPodcast 15.13

Submitted by Swayze Howell Sheen on March 3rd, 2024 at 6:59 PM

I've been re-listening to some of the post-game podcasts and man, that 15.13 intro is Brian's most epic. Every time I hear it I am pumped. I reproduce it here in writing for your enjoyment. Apologies to Seth and Dave for editing out their comments during the epic lead in. Also, some minor edits for readability.

MGoPodcast 15.13: "They Are All Legends"

After all that, what did it come down to?

It came down to the fact, that Michigan is built like the kind of team, that sees 4th and 1, they say, "we can get this", and Ohio State is built like the kind of team, that sees 4th and 1, they say "we gotta punt this."

And it's not a playcall, it's not a sign, it's what's inherent in these programs.

One of these programs, led by Ryan Day, in the offseason, thought the best way to win this game was to make a bunch of crap up, was to go on a PR blitz - not blocking and tackling - hiring a firm to make it seem like what Conor Stallions was doing was the worst scandal in the history of college athletics.

What did it come down to in this game?

Blocking and tackling. That's what it came down to.

Blocking and tackling. Decisions.

Who you are ... as a program.

Who you are as a program under Ryan Day.

Who you are as a program under Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore.

Who you are as a program when you see a horrific injury to Zak Zinter - the worst injury I have ever personally seen in a football game - and you come out, on the next play, you score a rushing touchdown from 22 yards out.

What happens when Michigan gets the ball back with eight minutes left to go? They kill all but one minute off that clock.

And then they kick off and you know what they do? I know Tommy Doman doesn't put kickoffs short of the endzone unless he's doing it on purpose. And so they start at the 19 and they lose five [six] yards and 5 seconds.

Every single play on that drive, Michigan is getting pressure. And Marvin Harrison is making a miracle happen, they're getting lucky because their tight end drops a pass, but it's coming. They fumble to each other, but it's coming.

And you know what happens? You know what happened two years ago, when Aiden Hutchinson was motioning at Dawand Jones, "I am coming for you!" and Dawand Jones ends up on his ass? Guess who ends up on his ass? Donovan Jackson. You know who put him there? Jaylen Harrell, the man who can't rush the passer!

And boom! Kyle McCord can't his throw off, and who picks him off? Rod Moore, the three star from Ohio, that Ohio State ignored.

30 to 24.

This is the MGoBlog podcast.
