Semi-OT:NCAA charges Vols hoops, football with violations
With the chance of Tenn getting some serious restrictions put ont their program, does that give us a chance at a de-commit from DeAnthony Arnett?

DeAnthony Arnett = never going to happen.
February 23rd, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
ncaa has not announced the punishment yet, UM is on probation and restrictions.

...is going to get.
Tennessee is about to be in serious trouble.
February 23rd, 2011 at 2:06 PM ^
What do you think will happen?
February 23rd, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
A friend of mine, who goes to Georgia, says that it's common knowledge amongst SEC schools that the girls "hook up" with recruits on visits to Tennessee, which is basically prostitution, and that's not even the major problem, so I am guessing it'll be pretty severe.
EDIT: I found this hard to believe at first, though some of the initial reports back some weird relations between girls and recruit's visits.

Than it does Arnett, which is okay by me.

or 998...

Yes. "Decommit" is not the correct term. However, if there are major infractions, it would not be unprecedented for the NCAA to allow AD to renege on his LOI, without having to worry about sitting a year. It is pretty clear that this is what the OP meant.
February 23rd, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
The coach has to be fired for his LOI to be invalidated. Otherwise it's a transfer.
February 23rd, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
where there were exceptions, similar to what happened at USC where the Juniors and Seniors were allowed to transfer, but nothing shows up in a quick search so, for now, I stand corrected.
February 23rd, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
and not being a JERK like mmiicchhiiggaann I was just asking a question while trying to be informative.

Your question should be how does this help with our recruitment of Danny O'Brien, I'm sure this news has to make him think twice about having the Vols as his leader.
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
Apparantly, saying this gets you negged.
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
If you haven't learned the first rule of MGoPoints by now, you should probably just go back to MTS.
Note - Self negged for violating the first rule of MGoPoints.

Doesn't mean I can't make a joke.
I'll +1 ya for the MTS reference.

Arnett is a thing of the past. Even if he were to transfer and sit out a year I do not believe we were his #2. Once again never going to happen.
I am excitied to see this as the perfect storm to take the lead for O'Brien. From the news after Godin visit it looks like he will be one of our first commits. Best friend commitment and UT getting nailed with violations... come on down to UM.
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
So this is now Tennessee football, Alabama football, and an ongoing investigation at Auburn.
Hmm...I'm starting to think that maybe the SEC isn't the cleanest place around.
February 23rd, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
Real Sports is going to dig deeper into the SEC.
February 23rd, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Well, at least they can't pay HBO to go away.
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
For perspective on Arnett, there's a substantial rumor that MSU thought he was such a strong lock that they didn't recruit him very hard so he decided to go to Tennessee. We never did and never will have a chance at him.
February 23rd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
I did not know the full story behind that. Hopefully it helps with other recruits.
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
He's also bringing Pearlie Graves, Dequinta Jones, Dee Hart and Dallas Crawford.
February 23rd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Lane Kiffen is definitely still doing the same stuff at USC. NCAA you can't be serious if you think he's going to keep USC clean.
