Jadeveon Clowney "Had great interest in Michigan"
In a new ESPN article Jadeveon Clowney's high school football coach Bobby Carroll says that, "For some reason (fall of 2008) Clowney expressed a great interest to go to Michigan." The article doesn't go on to say what happened to cool that interest, but that Tony Gibson was recruiting him. I found this to be quite interesting. Link below.

On the ESPN 30 for 30 about him, one of the scouts said it was like "watching Jim Brown play with a bunch of high schoolers." When they showed his HS highlights, you could understand why.

Would have been nice to get him... I would be more inclined to say that these storys are mostly made up>>> These guys need something to write about...
Just my opinion!!!

Arguing about RR...

Soo much hate in this thread. I kind of like it but then again... Can't we all just get along and love Michigan for who it is?

Michigan is an institution not a person. If you love Michigan for "who" they are you have some issues.
February 11th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
Issues like harrassing someone whose post was positive but is responded to with malice?
February 11th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
Scratching my head, not sure where the malice was in the last post.
February 11th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
WTF ?
February 11th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
...the ScarJo pic, this post is so full of fail.
February 11th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
40 somethings using the fail phrase is when you know it has died.
February 11th, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
...because that phrase magically appeared in the last few years.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:02 PM ^
I'm glad you agree.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
...and with that handle, likely a troll. Fuck off asshole.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
Two cusses in one post? Self control is something you must have not learned through the years.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
someone needs the banhammer.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
That phrase is so post.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
I suspected LarryHarrison was a troll, and now I'm almost certain.
Ever since the pos/neg function stopped working, this board has been flooded with absolute idiots.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
Reading the comments and posts he has made make me think otherwise. Good info on Richardson's USC offer and decent convo about other topics. If his snarky posts make him a troll then you and most everyone else could be called the same. Not to come to anyone's defense but this Troll deal is outdated and used to a point to where it has lost relevance. If his username is a reason to label him a troll then that is just dumb.

Troll

Back from a night out and I love how I received all of these negs but it did nothing to my point total and shows how everyone over 100 points is equal. Keep down voting my posts because it is pointless and makes you look like a fool. It shows that there are immature cliques on this board and the 40 somethings stick together. I guess the pollsters are right when they say that internet message boards are flooded with old white men who don't have anything to live for anymore. Keep up the good fight my Michigan brethren.
February 12th, 2011 at 9:41 AM ^
Don't celebrate too much. I suspect that the old method of keeping track of point totals will return eventually, and you'll be solidly in the red then. Whether that matters is up to you. Some people get upset about being negged and point totals and others don't.
As far as your assertion that "message boards are flooded with old white men who don't have anything to live for anymore" goes, I got a good laugh. When I make the occasional visit to the Rivals or Scout boards, it's obvious from the comments that the large majority of commenters are in their teens or twenties. The MGoBlog community is more diverse in age range, but I've been here long enough to know that a significant portion of the commenters here are still in school, or are still several years away from their 10th anniversary reunion yet.
Whether you're really a troll I can't say and don't really care, but I would bet that at least some of the negging you're getting is a reaction to your handle. Given Larry Harrison's unfortunate legal difficulties stemming from his sexual inclinations and his relative lack of accomplishments on the field for Michigan, choosing his name was designed to provoke and incite and nothing else.
Another commenter here has chosen the name and photo of a notorious murderer, so I suppose it's inevitable somebody will combine the sexually depraved with the impulse for homicide and sign on MGoBlog as John Wayne Gacy.

Please don't think that this comment puts me on the same team as the douchenozzle you're arguing with here ... but my understanding is that "full of fail" (and it's sibling "epic win") are creatures of internet message boards and actually did come to conversational usage only in the past few years.
They're kind of like the McPoyles of phrases, in a way.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
This is like an elementary playground with all of this name calling.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
I know we aren't getting him, so unless you are a fan of South Carolina or just like to imagine the "over-signing calculator" app that surely exists in Nick Saban's blackberry, this article may not impress you, but an interesting read nonetheless:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/12/sports/ncaafootball/12clowney.html?_r…
Maybe it shouldn't be news that a southern public school is falling short, but at least I liked the read.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
That was a really interesting read. It doesn't sound like he will end up qualifying. If that becomes the case then it would be great if the new staff could garner some attention from his end with a possible commitment in 2012.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:43 PM ^
Yeah, we take plenty of non-qualifiers. The new staff is going to totally go after him if he doesn't qualify at South Carolina.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:46 PM ^
If he were to go to Hargrave and straightened his academics out why would they be unable to acquire him?
February 11th, 2011 at 10:01 PM ^
For someone who can't hack it as a superstar athlete in a podunk South Carolina public school, I think assuming success at Hargrave is a big "if".
February 11th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
Everyone is different and he may be able to succeed academically in a place with more structure.
February 11th, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
Neggers, how does it feel to stand there and click that down vote button and have nothing come of it? Keep up the good fight!
February 11th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
No way. You're clowning me, right?
