"I didn't believe we had an opportunity to win a national championship with the direction of the program," Luck said. "At the end of the day, results matter. And we weren't getting the results."

Maybe Opie Stewart feels differently, but it would be very difficult for me to coach for a full year under an AD who has publicly emasculated me the way that Luck did in his statements. It's like a wife bringing a boyfriend into the house and announcing to her husband, "I don't believe I have the opportunity to get my rocks off with you. At the end of the night, results matter, and I wasn't getting the results. So Cabana Boy here is staying for the next year servicing me, and then you're out."

In one of those "it's-a-small-world" coincidences, Luck is the father of Andrew Luck, Jim Harbaugh's QB. It would be ironic if Luck's decision to can Stewart leads to Jeff Casteel coming to Ann Arbor, saving RR for another year and keeping Harbaugh in Stanford. Or maybe Luck Sr. wants it that way for his son's benefit...

Any halfway legit school will steer clear of a coach linked to an abuse-related scandal. No way Indiana or Minnesota would touch Leach. He'll have to settle for a small or trashy (read: Southern) school.
