OT: Red Wings Phoenix Thread
I personally need the break from worrying and excitement over PSU.
Shane Doan does appear to be back in form a bit.. Jimmy Howard stepped up last year but the Phoenix team is a force to be reckoned with. (it's odd saying that)

Howard is scratched with back spasms
October 28th, 2010 at 7:16 PM ^
Hope the wings offense is ready to go, Osgood is letting in like 4-5 gpg.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
I hope the Yotes can get off to a better start in this one. They've gotten behind big in most games this season and spent the rest of their time fighting back.
Doan is the spark, although they got slapped around by Ottawa on Tuesday. Hopefully they can come out and play in the first period today.

doan is one of those guys i HATE playing against...but would LOVE to have on my team
October 28th, 2010 at 7:33 PM ^
Doan is a hero to us Coyotes fans. The guy is a stand up on and off the ice, and a very hard worker. Plus, there's the doan face:
October 28th, 2010 at 7:34 PM ^
but that was epic
October 29th, 2010 at 12:26 AM ^
You realize the Coyotes lost that game (and that series) right?
I was there for that, and it was a great game (good guys won). It was a cool moment, and that face screams "playoff hockey", I just think it's funny how a scene from a losing effort is on every Coyotes commercial.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:35 PM ^
He's like a slightly less dirty, way more skilled Matt Cooke. Man, I love his game.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
is a cheap hack jagoff...
October 28th, 2010 at 7:41 PM ^
I respect the Wings, but I still find it hard to root for them. Also, I have a soft spot for the 'Yotes because they are/have been so close to losing the franchise. Man, those were scary times in Pittsburgh when we thought we were going to lose the team.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
I appreciate your sympathy. Unfortunately I can't return it: my Browns fandom prevents that.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:47 PM ^
McCoy looked good against the Steelers. I was actually really surprised. Usually LeBeau defenses terrorize rookie qbs.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:49 PM ^
McCoy is somewhat of a rare breed for a rookie QB: one that doesn't try to do too much. Its refreshing to have a QB that doesn't constantly turn the ball over.
However, party's over: delhomme is likely to start next sunday vs. the Pats
October 28th, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
why's that? Delhomme is really bad.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:56 PM ^
That's what's been going around rumorville. it doesn't make much sense to me, but it doesn't suprise me either.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
Nice move by Vrbata to get to the inside. Doan brings the energy, but he's gotta score for this team: thus far, he is doing his job.
And now, another power play. Wings just look a little sloppy.
October 28th, 2010 at 7:56 PM ^
what a sick shot top corner

October 28th, 2010 at 8:01 PM ^
Case in point.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
I turned off the game after the 2nd goal. I am too pissed off at how the wings (especially ozzy) is playing.
The NC State/FSU game is calming me down.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:01 PM ^
ugh....Kindle sucks. The wings need to improve their drafting of defensemen. The last few years of picks for the blueline have been complete duds.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
having a terrible game tonight though

Oh good lord. It's October. Babcock is in full tinkering mode. No Abdelkader, "Hey, let's see if this Modano pick-up sticks!," etc. I don't think 11 points out of 16 possible is bad when you are playing guys who will be back on the bus (ahem . . . Kindl) within three weeks.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:01 PM ^
Wow. Osgood is really struggling. Maybe time to retire?
October 28th, 2010 at 8:02 PM ^
and osgood makes me want to drink heavily....once again
October 28th, 2010 at 8:05 PM ^
Did you expect anything less, I've been an Ozzy supporter for ever. But I honestly think the 2008 playoffs was his last good run.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
he was outstanding in that playoff run too regardless if they won or not....but yeah, i want to be positive because i really want to see him do well...not surprising though
October 28th, 2010 at 8:14 PM ^
Phoenix 3, Detroit 0
October 28th, 2010 at 8:22 PM ^
fuck it. Time to get plastered.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:30 PM ^
On my way there here in new orleans

onto my bottle of jack
October 28th, 2010 at 8:23 PM ^
Anyone know if Howard is still on the bench for the game? Or did they call someone up?
If this gets any uglier Babcock may have to consider pulling Ozzie.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
The wings recalled Joey MacDonald to backup Osgood. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in if the wings give up one more.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
Much obliged. This is my first year living away from Michigan so I'm a little out of touch. I think I'm having Mickey Redmond withdrawals.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:26 PM ^
Howard is out with back spasms....joey mcdonald is the backup who was recalled this afternoon from Grand Rapids....it will take alot to see him in net tonight
October 28th, 2010 at 8:28 PM ^
"Jimmy Howard had back spasms after Thursday's practice and will not play against Phoenix at Joe Louis Arena. Chris Osgood will get the start in goal.
The Wings recalled goalie Joey MacDonald from Grand Rapids to back up Osgood."
EDIT: poop. late.
October 28th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
come out looking very good early in the second
October 28th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
Great assist by Hudler. That was perfect placement on that slap-pass.
October 28th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
The wings really dominated that period. Luckily for me, Bryz is on top of his game.
October 28th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
Ilya is the anti seive, funnel, vacuum, and black hole. He just does not suck.
October 28th, 2010 at 9:18 PM ^
I want to switch to the game, but I have uverse and all of my HD feeds are being used by DVR recordings for the office, grey's anatomy, and project runway. The opening to the office was hilarious though.
October 28th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
I take it only one of those was your choice?
October 28th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
but thats not fair to bryz...he made 3 huge saves, and then the 4th squeaked through...oh well
October 28th, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
Bryz is great...but these Coyotes are just frustrating to watch. The wings puck possession these past two periods has been dominant.
October 28th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
if it is any consolation, the wings make most opposing fans feel that way
