Is Tate the new #2?

Submitted by caguab on

After watching both Tate and Devin, I think Tate looks like the more solid choice for #2 (although Devin does throw a nice deep ball).  What do you guys think?  I think Tate should be #2 as the offense seemed to run faster with him in it.  Moreover, considering the game experience Tate has, I feel more confident with him in there if Drob goes down.

>>but takes several strides to get to full speed,

Yeah it seems that way.  He also seemed to want to bounce outside a few times which didn't work well.  TD pass -  he had a 2nd TD throw that was called back on a penalty.  Kid's got an amazing arm.  Some of the passes he threw it looked like he wasn't even throwing hard.

Devin has a world of promise, but he did, at times today, still look like a freshman finding his way in the offense.  Tate knows the offense, and has all of the skills.  I'm not saying he should be starting or that he is as good as Denard, but people forget that he was pretty impressive before his shoulder injury last season.

Tate is.  Devin isn't (yet).  Tate sees the field and reads the option better (for now). But I agree with those who note Devin's long ball skills.  What a great problem to have...three talented qb's.  IMO we should be redshirting both Tate and Devin at some point so that we are deep at qb for the next 4 years.  We are also deep at tackle and at running back and pretty deep at wr too.  I just wish the same problem existed on the defensive side at several positions.  Sooo glad that Denard and Tate are only slightly nicked up.

He was 12-12.  I don't care how much the game plan has to be modified.  DG, though he certainly got better as the game went on just isn't at this level yet.  And too me it seemed the once Denard was out for the game, Tate came in as if DG is the brief Denard-like replacement and Tate is the real replacemetn

But you have to wonder about that knee.  He was limping noticeably.    Also I was at the game and I missed it but a fan sitting next to me said that Tate got yelled at  when he walked off the field for the last time,  but I had missed that.

Gardener played well, but he has to cure himself of trying to bounce outside on runs, seemed like he wanted to do that a lot and it wasn't working.
