Commitment Predictions
I was reading some of the expert predictions about uncommitted recruits. While I thought that was interesting, I decided to throw my own ideas down here, FWIW. Some may be obvious, but others are debatable.
Rivals Rankings 250
2. Rueben Randle - LSU
10. Jelani Jenkins - Florida
11. Dre Kirkpatrick - Alabama
12. Manti T'eo - USC
27. Greg Reid - Georgia
49. Morgan Moses - Virginia
50. Patrick Patterson - Ole Miss
52. Marcus Hall - Ohio State
53. Marlon Brown - Tennessee
62. Orson Charles - Georgia
63. Xavier Su'a Filo - Utah
67. Tana Patrick - Alabama
72. Jarvis Jones - Florida
98. Byron Moore- Notre Dame
107. Rolando Jefferson - Oregon
110. Sam Montgomery - North Carolina
112. Jawanza Starling - Georgia
116. Eddie Lacy - Alabama
132. Larvez Mars - FIU (Gallon's high school, did UM pursue?)

155. Bark Mingo - LSU
165. Dontae Aycock - Georgia Tech

202. Justin Brown - Penn State
207. Corey Gaines - Arkansas

It looks like LSU, Alabama, Tennesse, Georgia and Florida will have a dog fight over most of these recruits until signing day.

99. Alshon Jeffrey - South Carolina
104. Je'Ron Stokes - Michigan

A lot of disagreement between scout and rivals there, as rivals has him as the number 8 inside linebacker, and scout has him listed as Pooh Bear Mars and the number 76 weakside linebacker. I can see offers on scout from USF, Cinci, FIU, UCF, ISU, and Kentucky, so I'm gonna guess perhaps Rivals is overrating him or he has grade issues?

I don't know...really haven't heard his name come up this recruiting season.

Its just those 2 make the most sense to me as to why Michigan hasn't been involved. I mean, he is at a position of need and at a school RichRod has been involved in, so I have to think that, either Rivals is just way off, or he has grade issues. I'm thinking the later is more likely, even though I really hate saying that about anyone I'm not sure of.

Maybe they don't think he is very good?

Mars has grade issues.

I remember someone posted about how screwed OSU would be if Pryor went down at any point in time.... I stumbled across the following in ESPN. I was surprised to see how OSU was spurned by recruits who chose Miami (NTM) and Temple over the Buckeyes, leaving OSU with a pretty meh 3rd qb option. Article reads:
Kenneth Guiton of Eisenhower (Houston, Texas), ranked No. 51 nationally among quarterbacks, has committed to the Buckeyes.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect also had offers from Houston, Kansas, Iowa State, Northwestern and Rice. He passed for 1,670 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior.
Guiton becomes a third scholarship quarterback behind Terrelle Pryor and Joe Bauserman.
Recently, Clemson picked up a pledge from highly-rated quarterback Tajh Boyd of Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) over the Buckeyes and Oregon. Ohio State then failed to gain pledges from two other fall-back quarterbacks in Austin Boucher of Alter (Kettering, Ohio), who is pledged to Miami-Ohio, and Chris Coyer of Oakton (Vienna, Va.), who is committed to Temple.

Somehow the Guiton kid sounds like a better qb prospect than those who manned the ship for our team last year.

Jeron Stokes = Blue* Looks like well end up getting(hopefully) Stokes, Robinson, Witty, and a hailmary pass that were gonna steal Washington from South Carolina. Graves looks to be gone, That leaves us with two or more of the Snakes Oil signature type!!!! BRING IT!

Chances are looking better that Pearlie is Blue. OU pulled his offer, and it doesn't appear he's going anywhere this weekend.
DQ Jones supposedly is in Tennessee this weekend, which could be bad for us. Still think he is Blue, as well.
Keeping Jones and Graves, while adding Stokes, Robinson, Witty, Washington, and Montgomery would be huuuuge.
Marcus Hall is playin' us. One of Montgomery and Washington is probably going elsewhere, maybe both. Chances we get both are pretty low.

So TT is supposedly leading for Pearlie now. And I guess I should have considered driving 500 miles to UT for DQJ as a bad sign.
I am so smart!!

You forgot Je'Ron Stokes at #104. Chances are very good that he is Blue.

I didn't add him because he is technically still 'committed', but I agree with you.

USC's more than likely going to lose a few near signing day, as well.
4* WR Alshon Jeffery could very well flip to South Carolina or Tennessee. 4* WR Randall Carroll is essentially a lock to go elsewhere, with UCLA being the likely destination.
And now for the big one...
5* LB Vontaze Burfict appears headed to Arizona State.
January 31st, 2009 at 4:44 PM ^
Burfict would be a pretty impressive pull. I think it might help with Manti Teo's recruitment.
January 31st, 2009 at 4:55 PM ^
I think Te'o is USC-bound regardless.
The thing about Burfict is, I think he WANTS to go to USC, and I believe he IS qualified academically to get in, but ASU has convinced him that he'll have an easier time STAYING qualified there. A few of his former teammates from Centennial are at ASU and were academic risks that couldn't really go anywhere else in the Pac-10, and they've been in good shape academically at ASU, and Burfict is buying into that.
