You're right. It's all about the flopping. Nothing at all to do with the low scores, long games, and it's a game we aren't that good at.
Um. Funny you pick football to compare to. The NFL is designed for short attention spans. Sure, the games are wickedly long in total time. but each play is less than 10 second. So the view has to watch for 10 second or less, then they can go get another beer. With soccer, you pretty much have to be paying attention for the entire time. It's entirely different.

Ref will add stoppage time, but there was nothing bookable about it. They called the stretcher to make the time legit.
