Teaching "Hail To the Victors" in school
I was just at Barnes and Nobles in Fort Myers, Florida, when I heard an announcement that an elementary school band would be performing in part of the store. Shortly there after I hear a tune, a wonderful fantastic melody that overwhelmed me with joy. Low and behold it was Hail to the Victors. I promptly and swiftly moved to the location of the band and as they finished I gave a Arm Pumping "GO BLUE!"
Show that little kid some footage of us beating those Wahoo's.
That story was well covered when we talked about making a correct but potentiall unpopular decision. LC sticking with Dreisbach was the right move, and in the end his decision proved to contribute to victory. Every youngster/future coach could take a lesson.
They can be fans of both. All the cool kids are doing it.
in JR High and HS, I would use The Victors and Lets Go Blue as my warmup tunes. Nothing better than a bunch of kids screwing around buzzing their lips and playing scales or what have you when all of a sudden, out of nowhere comes a blaring Trombone rendition of The Victors, or a jazzed up, synchopated Lets Go Blue.
Milhouse is jumping off a cliff? I'm there!
