I'll take a hard working and honest man running a clean program over a lying cheating scumbag who offers a quick fix any day.  But then again, look how long some of these lying and cheating pigs get away with it?   Hopefully this is the end of Rick Pitino!  Calipari!

who has a relative who spent 4 years with him, he is clean. AAU is the absolute worst however. My family member found it was so disgusting that they went from wanting to coach to not wanting anything to do with college basketball and changed his career path away from sports. But beilein does it right, no question about it.

For the Football crowd that may not completely understand the landscape that John Beilein has competed in for the last 30 years.

Michigan just landed the best player in Canada, a consensus top 50 player and would likely be a borderline 5 star if he lived in the US.  He's part of one of the best recruiting classes that Beilein has had at Michigan - they are currently ranked #5 in the country and are likely to add at least 1 more 4-star recruit and maybe 2.  The #1 player in the country is also visiting next week but nobody expects them to get him (for reasons explained below).

This news comes at the same time that the FBI just uncovered something that everybody already knew - college basketball recruiting is dirty like dirt in a dirt sandwich. (LINK) This sting caught five programs around the country.  The lead name is Louisville (USC through an assistant that played for Steve Fisher at SDSU (where would he have learned this behavior!) was another).  You remember when Pitino and Louisville beat Michigan in the Championship game in 2013?  This spring the NCAA took away that Championship (a lot of good that does for Michigan) for numerous violations including widespread use of prostitutes to get the players that played on that team (Pitino was shocked and appalled that this went on and knew nothing about it, of course.  If there is anything one knows about type A basketball coaches is they don't really pay attention to what happens when top recruits come to campus).  A month after that ruling was handed down and Louisville faced some penalties and was put on probation, they were so concerned about getting on the straight and narrow that this FBI investigation caught their top assistant in a hotel room in Vegas conspiring with Adidas to buy a 5 star recruit for $100K (LINK).

This is the landscape that John Beilein, who in a poll of his peers received 25% of the vote (2.5X more than second place) as the high major coach that does everything by the book (LINK) competes every year.  Somehow he's still been to multiple Elite Eights, Final Fours, and a National Championship game.   I can't imagine how frustrating that must be and what a better coach he must be than the Pitinos and Caliparis that he can compete with them with an arm (both arms?) tied behind his back.  It definitely makes Michigan a fun team to root for even when you know their ceiling most years is making the tournament and getting past the first weekend. Will be fun to see what he does with the haul he has coming in next year.  At 64, this may be the last class that he coaches all the way through.

I still think last year's team could've run the table and I think Beilein sensed it.

We stunk against Oregon and they barely beat us.  Not sure why we were so off that night, other than it happens.  We were playing so well at the time.
