DRAFTAGEDDON discussion
A few thoughts:
-I was surprised to see the early run on QBs, since I believe a fourth QB (Thorsen) is going to have an excellent year.
-Barkley makes sense at number one, but I thought for sure we'd see Akrum Wadley in the top 10 as well.
-No Spartans? DISRESPEKT! I bet their first player gets drafted between rounds 3 and 9.
hasn't been picked. Dude is a legit 1st team All-B1G candidate and is the 2nd best RB in the conference. Despite the transfer of Nevada RB, he's slated to start and is expected to break out as one of the best RB in the country.
I hate Draftageddon more than my ex wife. Every summer when I check mgoblog and see the title post, it literally makes my blood boil. If I could go back in time, the first thing I would do is prevent whoever invented draftafuckingboring from inventing it in the first place. Goddamn you all.
How do you really feel though?
back. 8 of the 11 starters didn't play against Michigan and lost their starting LB to the stupid helmet to helmet rule. So PSU essentially played with the entire defense of backup players against Michigan.
Less than pedestrian:

Had they stuck with giving Barkley touches on both passing and running plays, they would've done some damage.
With a full complement of defensive starters, the score would've been closer than 49 pts thus the offensive playcalling would have been dramatically different.
as Hoke's 2011 team. We had no business being in the sugar bowl just as psu lucked into the rose bowl.
Saquon Barkley was their only offensive production against us and his stats were less than impressive:
CAR | YDS | AVG | TD | LONG | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
15 | 59 | 3.9 | 0 | 33 |
REC | YDS | AVG | TD | LONG | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
5 | 77 | 15.4 | 0 | 30 |
Their offense after our game basically boiled down to get the ball to Barkley and chuck it and pray (Denard/Hemingway/Roundtree style).
Barkley has proven to be awesome but the chuck and pray passing game only lasts for so long as we soon found out after 2011.
15.4 ypc and Michigan LBs couldn't keep up with him in space. They simply stopped giving him touches just because they were so far behind.
hence the rushing stat line.
He got 30 of his 77 yards receiving yards on one play and 33 of his 59 rushing on another. He never crossed the goal line rushing or receiving. So two BIG plays and no scores.
Look, the guy is a stud but I wouldn't call that day impressive.
That's a squat clean by Barkley, not a power clean.
Very impressive nonetheless.
