Michigan v. Wisconsin: Open Thread

Submitted by Z_Wolverista on

While I'm not optimistic about this game, I'd still like to root for our team. Thick / thin, fair weather & foul, n' all that...

... here's hoping we emerge with our dignity relatively intact, and are then able to move forward into better days...

Go Blue!

I see 3 MAYBE 4 wins...that means 5-13 or 6-12...from a team returning everyone from a NCAA tourney team..thats on JB....Warde Manuel wont do anything ..Hes been very underwhelming as AD...The BB program is back to also ran status How in the Hell does a program go from NCAA Finalist and elite 8 to THIS?

Bright side, if they play with that much focus and intensity defensively and remember to fucking block out on free throws, they can easily finish strong.  That's the best team in the league, on the road, with Kohl Center officiating in full effect.

For now though it's an outlier.  Need to make it a trend.

We got into foul trouble but that didn't cost us the game because Wisconsin missed 10 free throws tonight which made their points from the line relatively even with ours. They went on a 15-0 run and we had no answer due to a lack of poise by our guys down the stretch. They were getting layups and uncontested threes, while we were taking contested shots and turning the ball over time and time again. We have blown countless games this year by not being able to execute down the stretch.

Let me start by saying I don't like to blame the referees but this is ridiculous. Michigan played with there all and the referees cost us the game(sounds like 2016 OSU game). Beilien got on the referees back in the first half and they gave us 1 or 2 calls because of that but these referees are home teamers.

This team is so soft and outside of a cple guys the individual defense is fucking awful. I wonder if Ward has the guts to make a change or if hes satisfied w mediocrity.

just wow.  UM had UW rattled.  Wisconsin was playing poorly and UM was in their head.  Then terrible 3rd foul on Mo, terrible 3rd and 4th fouls on DJ and it was over (even with the 8 point lead and ball).   Sure, the last 10 minutes had a variety of bad calls, poor offensive possessions, and Wisconsin making some plays, but the key were those fouls with 10+ minutes to go.

The refs definitely cost us this game! Not only the difference in free throws, but both Wilson and Mo were taken out of the game for a good portion of the 2nd half. Once they got 4 fouls, they played tentatively until fouling out which led to the 15-0 run.

Just a ton of ticky tack fouls on us and Walton gets thrown to the floor without anything called?? Hopefully he's ok because the team definitely played better tonight.

Better defense and came back at the end against a solid team. Need to keep things moving in the right direction and hopefully Wagner and Wilson can keep contesting shots down low.

At this point I don't think Wilson can focus on both offense or defense in the same game. If I had to choose I'd definitely have him focus on defense and rebounding. Go Blue!

The refs? Really? From the viewpoint of Michigan fans, the refs screw us in every game. It may have been a bad night, but maybe, just maybe, a team that hasnt played much defense so far this season, who just decided to start playing defense this game, doenst know now to work the refs on defense.

Good defensive teams know how to work the refs. Michigan doesnt. But yeah, its the refs fault. Wow.

Not saying the refs screw us every game. In this one I think it's fair to say we got screwed. Not only with the calls that were made against us, but on the other side Koenig, Hayes, Happ and Showalter were allowed to play physical without drawing any calls.

And that ball that Simpson stole didn't even seem close to the line.. terrible call.
