5th yr in the program, flashes of competent to good play last season. Banks could very well provide some solid depth behind Martin. Adam Patterson has been a huge disappointment though... would be real nice to see him step up his game in his final season. What I'm wondering is does anyone think Ash and Talbott see the field this year? Can we get by with only 2 deep at the DT positions?... I'd like to see the 2 freshman get some PT, but hate to see them waste a year not truly contributing.

I think are unlikely to see the field this year, unless injuries force them into action. Even stud DT recruits tend to get owned as freshmen. Consider the freshman seasons of Will Campbell and Gabe Watson, for instance. I think DT is a position where you really need time in the s&c program to build up the strength before you can take on college offensive linemen, not to mention learning the techniques.

Offense: QB: Tate/Tate SB: VSmith/Denard WR: Hemingway/Healthy Hemingway WR: Stonum/Stonum SR: Odoms/Odoms TE: Koger/Koger LT: Omameh/Lewan LG: Schilling/Schilling C: Molk/Healthy Molk RG: Huyge/Washington RT: Dorrestein/Omameh Defense: DE: RVB/RVB NT: Sagesse/Campbell DT: Martin/Martin Q: Roh/Roh SLB (Spinner): Hawthorne/Mouton MLB: Ezeh/Fitzgerald WLB: Mouton/Bell BS: Williams/MRob CB: Turner/Turner CB: Floyd/Cullen DS: Woolfolk/Woolfolk Don't bite my head off for this: Yes, you read that correctly. I would like to see Mouton moved to Stevie Brown's vacated spinner position. Mouton is a converted safety, uber athletic, and has been totally clueless at his current position (stevie brown '08, anyone?) I know it won't ever happen, but it would be cool to see. Also: No matter how you slice it, our defensive backfield certainly looks like the weakness of this defense. Tons of talent, but only one player who has shown the ability to play at a high level. All the rest are Mike Williams, JT Floyd, and Freshmen. Talented freshmen, yes, but still freshmen. I think the LBs will be solid this season. Not because there are proven good players, but because the coaches will have plenty of options this season. Ezeh, Mouton, Fitz, Bell, Demens, and Leach on the inside to go with Hawthorne and Jones at Spinner should provide the coaches enough options to come up with a functional group. I am excited about the DLine this season. Even though we lose Graham, I think the rest of this line is going to pick up the slack and not miss a beat.

Emilien looking at it, our offense should be good..our DL looks nice despite losing graham...our DB looks like it should be improved despite losing warren, if woolfolk is at deep S...so if our LBs can play ok then we could be a 9 win team
