I quit hockey once Stevie Y retired. Was a huge Wings fan before that. The wings/av rivalry was awesome. McCarty pummeled turtle & had the game winning goal that game. Watched that game 20 times I bet over the years. Joey Kocur was one of my favorite Wings.

Man I used to hate that when Roy was in a zone. Nothing would get past him some of those games.
Wish I still liked hockey. Just doesn't seem anything like it used to be.

All you ever had to do was get one bad goal on him. Much easier said than done, of course. Much more often he'd be in that zone and be unbeatable. But if you could get one past him that he thought he should've stopped, he'd melt down and let in softy after softy. Hence the 7-0 blowout the game after the Statue of Liberty goal. Hence also the 6-0 beatdown after Marty Lapointe opened it up by ripping a shot that tore off the Velcro attachment to his catching glove and trickled in. That was the same game where Marc Crawford let loose his infamous tirade at Scotty.
